With as large a divide in talent and ability on both sides of the ball as this years Broncos? Now clearly this may be the greatest offense to ever play the game but their D is flat out bad. The O is an impossible standard to go up against I understand but can anyone think of a team EVER with such a disparity in performance?? Only team that came to mind for me was the first Ravens SB winner but even that team wasnt as disparate as this one imo

I didn't realize they were 25th in team D. You don't really notice, the way they outscore people. Although, thinking back on the 2nd half of the NE game .......

During the Packers 15-1 season people ragged on our D. But we also led the league in INT's so it didn't matter too much.

The Saints in the late 80's
Had maybe the best defense ever (but will never get credit because the team never won anything important)
While the offense was one of the most horrid offenses I ever watched. The Defense would ask Bobby Hebert & co. please just score 10 points & we will win the game for you!

The last time the patriots went to the Super Bowl they brought with them statistically the worst defense to ever play in a Super Bowl.

I'm sure there were before the Mel Blount rule in the mid-70's. The '74 Steelers come to mind.

Umm no. The 74 Steelers had a top 6 offense. Those great Steelers 70s teams, like the great Niners teams of the 80s and the great Boys teams of the 90s were example of teams that were flat out stacked on both sides of the ball.

Oh wait it was the 2000 Rams that had that horrendous defense not the 2001 Rams.

Well, we had a great D in 2008-09 and a horrendous O line if that counts.

Don't forget they gave up 48 to the Cowboys and Romo threw for 506 yards and 5 TD on 36 attempts (but somehow, it's his fault they lost?).

2011 Patriots..#2 in offense...#31 on defense. That's nearly impossible to top. That years Pats defense makes this years Broncos defense look like the Steelers 'Steel Curtain' defense of the 70's

The 2011 Packers were 1st in points and 3rd in yards on offense and 32 in yards on defense but also were only 19 in ppg on D and got a lot of turnovers so weren't as bad as they looked.

Yes.

The 2000 Ravens.

The Ravens were 16th in total yards per game, 14 in total points per game and 5th in rushing yards per game that year. Jamal Lewis had 1364 yards for the season and Priest Holmes had another 588 yards. They combined for another 517 yards receiving. They also had Shannon Sharpe who had a good year.

Now the 2000 Rams were 1st in offense and dead last in defense.

You, of course, do need to take into account that teams with explosive offenses put there defenses on the field longer. Defenses also tend to give up meaningless yards/points when protecting huge leads.
