Haven't kept up with this thread, but I saw a report in the Houston Chronicle that MI is interested in QB John O'Korn from Houston. He had a very promising freshman year in '13, earning AAC Freshman of the Year, before struggling and losing his job early last season. He is a pretty big kid who is a classic pocket passer with decent mobility.

I find it somewhat ironic that an MSU fan is ragging on Michigan for basketball this year. Your roster is fully healthy and you're below Michigan on the big ten standings. Your loss to Texas Southern is just as bad.

Oh i agree. Were not great this year. But we have made the tourney 17 straight yrs. How many times has michigan missed the tourney during that time?

Yup we lost to texas southern. Horrible loss. But ill use an excuse like UM fans. Our best player didnt play. Did levert play vs NJIT? EMU?

Like i said. Back to the NIT for UM. Oh and dont forget. NO BOWL either. Theres always womens softball

Beilein has done a great job with "next man up," as players leave early for the NBA (Stauskas and Robinson) or get injured (LeVert), but eventually it catches up with you. The team was bound for a step back, no worries. Given the youth of the team, and the experience they are getting they should be dangerous next year. Hell, they just gave the top dog in the Big Ten this year (Wisconsin) a run for their money.

Riiiiiight because no teams have to deal with players leaving or getting hurt.

I like the levert injury excuse. You guys sucked BEFORE he got hurt. Lost to NJIT and EMU WITH HIM!!!!!

Dangerous next year? :pound:

Like i said. Hold on to that moral victory of ALMOST beating wisky in AA. Wow great job!!!!! Congrats. Maybe the team should all get PARTICIPATION ribbons this year.

DE Daishon Neal picked up a Michigan offer this week. Chose Nebraska after the Michigan coaching staff told him he couldn't go to Michigan if it weren't for football. True or not, calling a recruit dumb to their face probably isn't the best tactic.

Yeah i just saw this too. The arrogance to go in and tell a kid hey youre dumb but since u play football we will accept you.

"ANN ARBOR -- On Monday night, Michigan made one more pitch at flipping another Nebraska recruit.

But ultimately, three-star defensive end Daishon Neal reaffirmed his commitment to Nebraska live on Omaha's 1620 The Zone radio station Tuesday morning.

But then things got interesting.

Neal and his family hosted Michigan defensive line coach Greg Mattison in their home Monday, and at first, everything went well.

In fact, Neal's father -- Abraham Hoskins Jr., a former college receiver -- was leaning toward pushing his son to Michigan.

But then, things changed.

"Michigan was a powerhouse, they came in and they stormed us, they made one bad statement and it was over," Hoskins told 1620 on air. "They said without football, Daishon wouldn't be able to go to Michigan. Like we couldn't afford to send him there, or that we couldn't get him in academically.

"Once he said that, we pretty much escorted him out of the house."

Neal continued by stating: "(They) basically tried to call me stupid in front of my face."

The top player in the state of Nebraska, Neal -- a 6-foot-7, 250-pounder -- also had offers from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa and Oregon.

A couple of observations...

Despite years of evidence that Angry Weasel fans are iForum challenged, 'SportsHoopla has at least one out-of-the-closet MnBer. Damn glad you're posting, whoeverthehellyoutrulyare.

LSU fans declare any and every sought-after recruit a LSU lock. It's a trait (possibly an annoying one). Every forum I've ever visited, one or more LSU fans have posted "LSU lock" about recruits, even those who play sports which aren't part of LSU's programs. Sheeeee-it! An LSU fan even posted "LSU lock" on a thread about the impending deportation of a fat, affable Mexican with three US-born kids staying out of trouble and making good grades in school.

Michigan doesn't have the basketball streak the MSU has had but we've certainly had more recent success (sound like a familiar argument?) -- and we're both bad this year. We're destroying MSU head to head lately and when was the last time MSU made it to the national title game?

I still say scUM fans are jumping the gun on harbaugh.... for Christ's sake, you've all already given him the B1G coach of the year, an undefeated season, and a natty, before he's fully moved into his office........

Have you not learned anything from the attitudes that rose after hiring RR and the Joke? I heard all the same BS!

Although, he probably will be given the B1G COY award simply for coming to scUM. I mean, hell, its not like this award is given the to the rightful coach.

More recent sucess? We both went to elite 8 last yr. sure the yr before that you had the big run. But the 20 yrs before that you failed to reach ONE sweet 16. So yeah you guys had one better year 2 yrs ago. You have had TWO good basketball yrs in 21 yrs or so.

Destroying us head to head? I dont think you destroyed anyone. Might have won more as of recently. But just 2 yrs ago sparty was up 31 on UM before izzo put the walk ons in. Besides, ill let UM beat us every year twice a yr as long as we do well in the tourney. If im right UM has had ONE yr where they went farther in the tourney. Maybe 2. Not sure if the yr UM made the round of 32, sparty might of lost in the first round. But anyways UM is back to sucking again after a TWO yr run. As bad as we are, we might still make the tourney. We havent played all the bottom feeders like UM has so far.

None of them will admit they said the same crap when they hired rich rod or hoke. Hell navynuke was just telling me how great hoke was 6 months ago. Harbaugh could win 3 games in the next 3 yrs and the fans will have the usual excuses.

No matter what harbaugh does its "GREAT"....sign a 3 star DE, thats GREAT...sign a 2 star OL and all of a sudden hes a stud. Ohhhhhh the arrogance.

Yes, because Rich Rod/Hoke are on the same level of hire as Harbaugh is.....

Jesus guys, you know there's a huge difference and there's ACTUAL stuff to be excited about in regards to the Harbaugh hire.

"Waits til you see the offense that Rich Rod is going to bring to Michigan. They are going to run through the Big10!!!"

"Hoke's a Michigan Man, he's going to bring back the dominant run first offense and terrorizing defense. Look what he did for Ball State and SDSU. He recruited Tom Brady and he will bring another here!!!"

Yeah we heard these excitement statements before. When do we get to say that there is no big bad wolf?

Oh no!!! A fanbase is excited about a new coach, a coach that resurrected a horrible PAC-10 team an brought them into prominence. And then took a below average NFL team to 3 straight NFC championships and a SuperBowl, in his first 3 years!

How dare they get excited! Round em up and execute them all!

Holy hell man, what is wrong with people? You guys don't want to hear it, stay off U of M boards. The funny thing is people talk all this crap about how conceited and stuff we are, but this is a thread created by a hater troll to spark some crap, and it is haters n here talking smack and hating.

Let us be excited, you be excited for your team then when season kicks off give each other the business before the game and the congrats after it, regardless.

I have tempered expectations, I believe JH will make us great again, I do know it will take time. I hated the RR hire, said from day 1 it would not work here. I liked BH as a consolation to losing JH because he had passion and was from the program. Oh no! we were wrong! But people come here to rub noses in the fact he does not have a top 10 class in the first 3 weeks and then go off and rant on our arogance when we defend our new coach. Grow UP!

It's not a matter of Michigan fans being excited. You should be because this looks to be a great hire. But when you have members of your ra base who are continually predicting/suggesting that UM is going to be undefeated and playing/winning a national title year one, before he has had one practice, it's going to generate threads like this. I have never seen any fan base saying that as much as Michigan fans have. Even OSU fans said it would take a few years.

Only some are so brazen and quite frankly asinine about it. But that is with any fan base, hell go to any ESPN article on U of M and there are 1k plus posts of douche bags from OSU saying ignorance and scUM and all the other 12 yr old crap. Those I brush off as basement dwelling pleebs and move on. Hopefully others can as well, but they take a few rotten apples and lump th entire orchard in with them as needing to be burned down.

Again, fans were excited about those hires (Hoke we had to warm up to the idea of being excited) but they are in no way comparable to landing a coach like Harbaugh. The excitement in this case is justified. And team that landed Harbaugh would be excited; save a few teams with elite coaches already.

Los reasonable expectations too much to ask? Nebraska and Florida aren't calling for undefeated and national titles year one. But Michigan, who's players have not received even mediocre coaching in their college careers, should be competing for titles? You don't even know who your quarterback is. How about being bowl eligible before talking undefeated?

I've never once said we should be competing for national titles in year one. I have said we should be at least competing for the big ten title in year one. Hoke brought in the talent, he just couldn't put it in a place to succeed. Competing for a big ten title doesn't mean we're winning it either. When you hire a coach like Harbaugh, there's a reasonable expectation that you're team will show significant on field performance almost immediately. That's been the case at every school who's hired a coach with a profile similar to Jim's. This is not anything like hiring Rich Rod or Hoke who have had some success at smaller schools that we were hoping would turn into something greater. Michigan has an NFL caliber coaching staff and I expect that to translate to the field immediately. Michigan has had a 4 year stretch of recruiting that is better than every team in the big ten outside of Ohio State. I expect Harbaugh to make that show in year one.

Who are these people predicting an undefeated 2015 season capped with a national title? Any actual quotes or credible sources?

Shit, I was leaning towards 2016 as Harbaugh's first championship season followed by 8 or 9 consecutive titles.

Somewhat expected. It was just so late. Most of the kids we are targeting that aren't committed elsewhere are kids who have been planning to announce on national signing day. And that remains true.

Additionally, what most don't know, is our class is only expected to be like 12-15 kids. At 6, that means we only need 6-9 kids to fill the class.

Part of the problem is that Hoke had the class mostly filled -- so he stopped recruiting. Kids weren't visiting. So when all this went down and there was a bunch of kids decomitting, any new prospects haven't even seen the Michigan campus. So Harbaugh has to get the kids here to see the campus -- most kids aren't going to commit somewhere without ever stepping foot on campus.

Last weekend was the first weekend Harbaugh got kids on campus and we only had like 5 kids. This weekend is another big weekend. We might actually get a commitment today. Otherwise, I expect a very exiting national signing day. Inman Marshal and that QB recruit from Texas are the big ones I want to land. I think we have Chirs Clark in the bag.

Harbaugh's impact will be most seen in the 2016 class. No matter what, with only 12-15 recruits, this class will have a hard time finishing ranked very well in the overall rankings. But that's because Hoke did a good job at filling previous classes.

Chris clark in the bag. Bwahahaha. Oh i love the arrogance. Seems like certain fans on here are always wrong. Should see mlive. The UM fans are killing clark for going to UCLA. Said he must me too dumb or UCLA paid him. So sad from moralvictory U.

Going into the offseason we had 16 open schollies and 2 guys left the program so we have 18 openings. Yeah, I don't expect him to get 12 recruits signed, especially by signing day, but he'll get Chris Clark, maybe Roquan Smith and I think he'll flip a high end prospect or 2. Maybe Zach Gentry and yes maybe Iman Marshall.

Never has a fan base been soooo wrong. Yeah u got the QB from no mans land that played vs no talent even tho i thought u already had a QB.
