btw... don't take anything from this game as to how the series is going to go.
(except if markov is done. then the habs are hooped due to this game)

you cannot got from a Game 7 to Game 1 in under 48 hours.
look at the Wings 1st period in SJ, or the Canucks vs Anaheim a couple of years ago*.
legs are totally dead after the intensity of a game 7.

*every game in the series was a 1 goal game, except for the 5-1 asskicking in game 1.
same reason - it was a short turnaround after a game 7

i will take this game as to how the series will go. montreal got completely outplayed in games 5, 6, and 7. the canadiens are not a very good team they just completely stole the series with goaltending. the penguins should have no problems.

I'm not at my computer watching the game, so you all (yinz) will have to deal with intermission reports from beme....

relatively even action on both sides, Pens had the slight advantage there...regarding Sarge, it's a love-hate relationship...hate him in the defensive zone, love him on the PP.

my first thought on the Cooke hit was "oh no, not another injurious Cooke hit"...thank god it was clean and the injury was just an unfortunate circumstance.

watching the replay on the Staal goal showed me that the Pens must have picked up on the game film from the Habs-Caps series. The Habs had been getting great defensive/goalie positioning in the series, so what does Staal do? Get the entire team moving in one direction, including the goalie, and then shoots the puck against the grain into the open area.

Game back....cya

i know this is not the penguins fault and i am not saying they are not good or anything although when was the last time the penguins played a healthy team? detroit was not healthy with datsyuk and i think lidstrom fighting injuries and ottawa was injured now markov is injured. then if they win this they get to play an injured flyers or bruins team. how lucky can the penguins be?

savard will get limited ice time and coming back from a concussion is never easy. like i said, when was the last time the penguins played a healthy team. i know it is not their fault i just think they are very lucky.

i guess the moral of the story is don't take penalties. good for the rest of the league that montreal is allowing pittsburgh's pp to get hot.

caps and canes were fairly healthy last season, if i remember correctly. Injuries are tough. as a team, you just got to find a way to rise above it. Look at your flyers!! I can't believe how well they've handled that adversity.
