And watch when they blow out New England in New England next week.

Brees was sensational today. We kept them in check for most of the game defensively. The only bad play was that TD late in the first half.

On offense, we were up against a very underrated and improved defense. We actually made great adjustments from the start of the game when they blitzed like crazy and caught us off guard. If not for a bad drop by Bennett on 4th down, we had a chance. It is just hard when you are up against a QB in Brees that is almost perfect in the game and controlling the ball. With that, we had hardly had many drives in the 2nd half.

I don't think any of us thought we were superbowl contenders this year. But we have a solid team. New Orleans and Denver are going to beat A LOT of teams way worse than New Orleans did today. They already have.

The way New Orleans played today, I think they would have beaten every team in the NFL with the possible exception of Denver. They played an A+ game. Just tip your hat.

I mean, I suppose if all you wanted out of the Bears this season was a second rate team, who has a shot at getting in the playoffs with 10-11 wins. Then, yeah. Calm down.

If you actually wanted this team to compete for the NFC, I think there's plenty to be worried about.

This is probably the last shot we have at a winner with this group of guys. Briggs, Peanut, Jennings, Cutler, Gould, Hester, etc... are all free agents, and there's definitely a chance that we're looking at a rebuilding year.

It's just frustrating. Right when we seemingly get the offense going, the defense stinks.

It is frustrating that teams like the Saints and Broncos are better. But they are.

It is not impossible for us to win the superbowl, but we need the breaks to go on our side. Kinda like the Giants and Ravens have had.

The defense actually played well today. What do you want them to do when Brees is throwing passes that are perfectly accurate? You can't just zero blitz a guy like that either or it is probably an instant touchdown.

The defense looked better. I'll give you that.

They also have a date in a few days with the perfect confidence booster for any struggling defense. The New York Giants.

Yeah we really have alot of problems. Most of them are early turnovers and the defense not being able to get off the field on 3rd downs. alot of that in the DT situation. But some of it has to be not being able to fill the Void where 54 once stood.

Actually, the defense was pretty good on third downs on Sunday.

The Bears were actually better on 3rd down than the Saints.

Oh, and the LB'ers aren't the problem. At all.

The only problem I see on defense is the lack of a pass rush without blitzing. It is not horrible in comparison to the rest of the league, but it is not what we are used to seeing.

I think we have a good team and will make the playoffs baring injuries. It is just going to be hard this year because this is one of those years where there are some amazing teams.

Linebacking corps seems to be the least worrisome group on the D side of the ball.

Obviously the pass rush is a big concern.
And although Jennings is good, if Peanut goes down we are fucked.
Safety play leaves a lot to be desired so far.

No, the linebackers is not where my concerns are.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

Unfortunately the Saints defense played really well. Jay's stats are descent compared with Brees' on the day. The glaring stat line are Jay's two fumbles (which I don't blame Jay for as much) - forced by the Saints.

I like what Trestman is doing. It'll take time to gel in some games depending on the opponent.

I agree with the first part. Broncos are incredible. Scary good.

As for the Bears, the three teams we beat have a combined record of 4-11. (Cin, Min & Pit). The two games we lost, those teams have a combined record of 8-2. (Det & NO). I just hope we can get to the playoffs?

Well, of course. We lost to one decent team on the road, and we lost to one great team at home. Take a gander at our schedule. There's definitely 10 wins there. Barring some bad injuries.
