My gut tells me its going to be a let down as well. Wade Phillips is the best option period. I don't understand how this is even a debate. He has been successful everywhere he has gone. He has the results to prove it.

The fact that we passed on him once was a disaster and if we do it again, Gruden should be fired. The fact that Phillips has any interest in coming here is a miracle. We cannot afford to make the same mistake twice.

Phillips should be the only candidate we talk about at this point. Interview him and offer him the job on the spot. Its simply a no brainer at this point.

Gus would be a good second choice but keep in mind in 4 years, 2 of those years, the Seahawks were a disaster on defense and 2 of the years, they were fantastic. There is no comparison resume wise with Brantly or Phillips.

Wade will be 70 years old this year. We are likely going to add alot of youth onto our defense over the next two seasons. You really think putting Grampa out there with a bunch of College kids who just got paid is a no brainer??

I dont doubt that Wade has the mind for the job, but at what point does spending time with his Great Grandkids give a man pause as to how much longer he actually wants to work what should be a 24/7 365 job?? I would prefer to see us go with some one a little younger, and away from the 3-4 defense frankly.

So my list as it stands would be Williams, Wilkes, then Bradley. And Im not huge on Bradley because I think we need some one who gets the job on his qualifications first, not because he is buddies with the HC, GM and President of the team.

So I talked to someone who worked at Redskins Park when Wade was first interviewed 2 years ago. Apparently Wade fell asleep while they were reviewing film during his interview. This turned Gruden off and reinforces the concerns you bring up. Not sure how those same concerns aren't still in Gruden's mind.

As for Williams, I just don't see it with the way he left the first time. Danny does still write the checks, after all.

Wow! Great insight. He has gotten a ring since then and maybe he could do this in his sleep. Lol. All.joking aside, that's bad.

Sometimes I wish barry would have fallen asleep during the game. Maybe someone else could have called the defensive scheme:crazy:

Wilkes is the guy who coached Norman his first four years, so we know he can work with and develop Defensive backs. He currently holds the title Assistant HC for the Panthers. And the main reason he would come in as my number two behind Gregg is,

Wade comes with age questions
Bradley..... I just dont want to see another good buddy hire. I think the reason Barry wasnt held accountable is because he was entirely too chumy with both Gruden and Allen. A Bradley hire to me is like when your boss hires a guy he worked with for years someplace else... if it works out great. But odds are if shit starts going side ways, the buddy factor tends to hold off the stern conversation that needs to be had until entirely too late. Thinking this had at least some impact on Barry not being held to a higher standard after 2015.

He also had some of the best defensive talent in the league when he got that ring. IM thinking if you gave Joe Barry,

Von Miller
Demarcus Ware
TJ Ward
Talib

Hell here is a 2015 depth chart AND player rating for the Broncos

When you got 3-4 elite players... you can afford to nap a little longer. :D

All we really need is someone to get this D from 28th to 14 or 15 and we are contenders.

Yes he has, but he is 70 and we need to get the hot dog fuck AWAY from the 3-4 defense. We dont have the players for it, and since we switched over we STILL havent really drafted/signed the players for it. Even with Wade we are 3 years away from a solid defense. And thats saying we draft/sign elite level talent to play in the 3-4. Norman was an elite corner.. in a 4-3. He was a very good corner with some penalty issues in our 3-4.

NO I realize Wade will be considered... but IM hoping he isnt the choice despite his excellent resume.

Actually, yes, I think the younger players would look up to Phillips after they see his SB ring and realize very quickly that if they want to become successful players in the NFL they should shut up and listen to what he has to say. I want someone who can call the right schemes, develop players and shut down the opposition. Phillips can and has done all three.

You will never get one complaint from anybody about Wade Phillips. I could not care less if he was 90 years old. He is a fantastic coach and has a superior defense everywhere he goes. He is the best candidate on the market and its not even close.

I am sure we will make another mistake and hire someone else and be complaining again in a few years as to why we passed him by for a second time.

I highly doubt the man fell asleep in an interview and I am sure this is just a great rumor that somebody who doesn't have much to do in life made up.

Back to the 4-3 yes, Bradley.. kinda not feeling that one either.

Williams
Wilkes
Bradley
Wade

And if another 4-3 coach comes into play they would probably be higher on my list than Wade or Bradley.

Denver had the horses, but he did coach them up. With Gregg off the market, he has to be the clear choice.

1 Wade
2 Bradley
3 Probably the guy we end up hiring.

Again dude WHY?? We dont have the horses, we have sucked as a 3-4 team the past what eight years?? IM just not feeling the man love for Wade, and I think the buddy hire of Bradley would be a bad mistake as well.
