Sorry NFL, but this is your own doing as well. Defensive players are put into this position where they have to tackle low.

Boston Globe:

some of the numbers for the Patriots’ offense with and without Gronk this season

no Gronk - Pats score 20.8 per game
with Gronk - Pats score 32.8 PPG

red-zone efficiency
no Gronk - 9 touchdowns in 22 opportunities (40.9 percent)
with Gronk -19 touchdowns in 28 opportunities (67.9 percent)

no Gronk - Brady completed 56.9 percent of passes
with Gronk - Brady completed 64.7

Without Gronkowski just 6.7 percent of Brady’s attempts went to a TE. Since then, it’s 26.3 percent of his attempts, almost exclusively going to Gronkowski.

Stop flagging and fining every hit above the waist and maybe you won't have so many hits at the knees.

Has the makings of a perfect excuse.

Also, defenders need to learn how to hit correctly and tackle correctly - so many of them suck at it these days

Patriots will cope with this somehow. Won't pretend to know exactly how, but they will.

the guy just doesn't have it, too big for the position and going to keep getting pummelled and injuried, his 15 min of fame or 1 great season we have already seen...sad but some just don't have it.

I was a big fan for a few years but he isn't going to amount to much for his career.

Because a shredded ACL or a broken arm are avoidable injuries that you can just tough out.

 yes, professionals never learned to hit and tackle correctly and you seem to understand the speed at which the pro game is played, lol...

being injury prone happens to some, he is going to be and will most likely be out of football way before his time with the injuries taking their toll...he just has to make a big contract and the motivation will be gone...hello strip clubs and pron stars for his early retirement.

I am afraid you are right. All of his injuries have been real one's too. Not hammy strains or any of that shit.

Not sure that we will ever see the Gronk that was a beast again.

I wouldn't say he doesn't have it. He's shown he can be the best TE in the league when he's healthy. Just a lot of unlucky breaks. This was just a case of the defender hitting him in his planted leg. The season ender last time was him being in the game with just seconds left when the game was out of reach anyways. Then he came back and landed on the bad arm. Just a series of bad breaks.

Ya but now his knee is all torn up.

Can he recover and get back to being Gronk the beast?? I dunno

He happens to keep having "bad breaks", eventually that becomes injury prone, eventually it tears up the body, eventually they retire on what could have been...

His 1 great season was amazing, seen many great players who only had 1 great season or maybe a few...Billy Sims, never filled his potential, Archie Griffin, etc...the list goes on and on....people don't realize how luck it is to play football and have long careers...Jerry Rice was the master at working to avoid them and working to build his body to handle it...Barry Sanders also..Gronk isn't that type, the off season is for his fun not thinking about longevity. He still has the early 20's bulletproof approach and its going to burn him.
