He happens to keep having "bad breaks", eventually that becomes injury prone, eventually it tears up the body, eventually they retire on what could have been...

His 1 great season was amazing, seen many great players who only had 1 great season or maybe a few...Billy Sims, never filled his potential, Archie Griffin, etc...the list goes on and on....people don't realize how luck it is to play football and have long careers...Jerry Rice was the master at working to avoid them and working to build his body to handle it...Barry Sanders also..Gronk isn't that type, the off season is for his fun not thinking about longevity. He still has the early 20's bulletproof approach and its going to burn him.

If you had Gronkowski in KC, you would be in first place - not Denver. Instead of "tightend envy" get your own tight end and STFU (thanks for the advice)

no we wouldn't, he would still be out for the season???? :wtf2: Had a guy better than him for a long time...Mr Tony G...we understand after he left how NE feels by losing their TE, although he played a few more games.

Gronk will be back. He's a tight end not a running back. He's young, he will still be able to block once he's 100%. His routes don't involve sharp cuts, most see just whelk routes and him beating linebackers. His hands will be the same. Hopefully he's back at the beginning of next season.

I agree their offense is so so when your kickoff specialist is your no#1 receiver and their D is too porous. Cant make up for the loss of Wilfork and Mayo. Lucky to win first game in playoffs

Sorry NFL, but this is your own doing as well. Defensive players are put into this position where they have to tackle low.

So you expected the NFL to settle a lawsuit with former players for $750 million and not make any changes???

Yeah I agree with this...This is where the NFL no matter what they do will look like the bad guy. Players say they don't want their legs hit and would rather suffer a concussion but then sue for millions of dollars for being hit in the head. Can't have it both ways. Also not sure even with the rules changes if this player would have done anything different. Being on the small end for the position I played in DE/LB I was always told on bigger RB's/WR's/TE's to go low to tackle. We have one guy that is 5'10" at around 200 lbs. taking on a guy that is what 6'6" 270 lbs. The best way to take down somebody like that is go lower.

Bill has been patching this team up all year. Thats always been his m.o. I am convinced he can have 100% of his team go into injury and still be better than the Titans fully healthy. Says alot about Bill

Giving Bill too much credit. He missed playoffs 3 times with Brady as not starter, @ years when Bledsoe was starter and year Brady was injured 2008 season

Yes, except he missed in '08 with a record that would get half of this year's crop into the playoffs.

Definitely sad news for the Patriots and fans. Though the two are unrelated, I would gladly have the loss over losing the Gronk (again). It was good to see the team rally back and win, but damn! Tough to overcome from having arguably the best double TE combo in the league (Gronk/Hernandez) to basically scraps at the position. Sucks! Big time!

Just saw a mock draft. They had the patriots taking a tight end in the late first round :noidea:

They love them TEs, with double and even triple TEs in some formations at one point, LOL. Seems they have bet the farm on TEs instead of speedy wide-outs to spread the field, although the no name rookies have more or less delivered, dunno if that will compensate or if they will be ready come playoff time. Regardless, overall I'm happy with how the team has played in critical moments. Lots of room for improvement, but hey all teams have that. Can't complain about 10-3, but have to keep expectations in check.

Even with gronk it would be really tough to make a Super Bowl run. 2 banged up rookie receivers, mayo, wilfork out. Brady's done it with the bare minimum before though.

Agree, does not appear that Pats have the goods to go all the way, but that's OK. I would be satisfied with strong showings down the stretch and a close playoff game or two. It will depend on how the D holds up, they give up too many big plays. And this dates back to several years.
