WTF! I hope this report is wrong.

The reason for the absences of Wayne and Gray are unknown, however, the Providence Journal is reporting that Gray was cut.

In addition, veteran cornerback Robert McClain was absent and Mike Loyko of NEPatriotsDraft reported, via a source, that McClain has been released. McClain, the former Panther and Falcon, was not part of my final 53-man roster projection.

Jonas Gray has been cut according to Ian Logue of PatFans.com. Fred Ward reports that the Patriots may trade Gray.

They are also reporting that the Patriots have signed UDFA Justin Coleman a 5'11" 190 lb Cornerback from Tenn.

Teams are making all kinds of cuts and signing other teams' cast offs.

All teams must be at 53 by 4:00 PM today.........about an hour and 5 minutes.

1:37 p.m.: The Patriots could try to trade Gray, ESPN’s Field Yates reports. Gray hasn’t been told he’s been cut yet, a source told the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe.

The Patriots also are “actively” shopping for a big-bodied wide receiver, according to a league source.

1:14 p.m.: The Patriots cut running back Jonas Gray, a source told Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal.

12:43 p.m.: The Patriots cut veteran cornerback Robert McClain, a source told NEPatriotsDraft.com’s Mike Loyko.

12:35 p.m. ET: Media availability in the Patriots’ locker room occurred before practice, and it appears the team will wait to make their cuts until after players come off the field. All players, even those firmly on the roster bubble, were getting suited up for practice.

FOXBORO, Mass. — The toughest day of the year has arrived for NFL teams.

The New England Patriots must trim their roster to 53 players by Saturday at 4 p.m. They Patriots currently have 66 players on their roster, but since LeGarrette Blount begins the season with a one-game suspension, the team team only needs to cut 12 guys.

The Patriots released quarterback Ryan Lindley, running back Tony Creecy, wide receivers Zach D’Orazio and DaVaris Daniels, offensive linemen Ryan Groy, Caylin Hauptmann and Chris Martin, defensive linemen A.J. Pataiali’i and Casey Walker and linebacker James Morris on Friday.

The Patriots practice at 12:50 p.m., so it will be interesting to see if they make their cuts before or after their first session of the regular season. They could elect to keep 10 players around to form a scout team, like they would have in the regular season with a practice squad. They would have to release those players almost immediately after practice.

NESN is reporting that Wayne asked to be released. No reason given. Patriots have cut CB Justin Coleman.....practice must have been pretty bad.

The Patriots have placed WR Brandon LaFell on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, according to ESPN's Field Yates. Left foot was spotted in walking boot in offseason. LaFell isn't eligible to play until Week 7.

Not really. Gray was unhappy after not getting playing time he thought he earned last year.
Gray has been sulking since. He has not been making the effort that I saw from him before the Indy game.
He may be one of those players that plays better after getting cut and going to another team......

I read in a couple of places that Gray still doesn't understand what that noise is from that stupid little clock on the night stand. He was late getting to couple of practices and they were in the afternoon. One 200 yard games does not make a running back a super star and Gray thought he deserved more respect. Belichick didn't like his attitude after the 55 yard run against the Packers in the first preseason game. He was a practice squad player for the Ravens and Dolphins.........that should have told him something. Belichick gave him the opportunity of a lifetime and he failed to live up to the expectations of being a professional football player, at least with the Patriots.

I'm sure he'll land somewhere but no one was willing to give up a 7th round pick for him to guarantee he'd be on their team......

I don't think the Pats are done yet at RB. Can't see them going very far with 3 third down backs (of course, one will be cut when Blount returns). I look for BB to scour the cuts from other teams and, hopefully, pick up a few gems. Would like to see someone at WR and maybe CB.

Cadet will return and Develin might also. It could be a revolving door at RB.
Dion Lewis and White will both get their chance to be the guy......

I thought Develin was put on IR? Ending his season. I hope I'm wrong. Getting him back in December would be great.

You may be right about Develin. I know he is on IR but I don't know if they made the decision on the season.
Last I heard, they were waiting for doctor's opinion. I don't recall the deadline they had to make the decision....

Gray cleared waivers. What BK said is sounding right. He has a attitude problem. Teams RB's and he can run but if you are a dip shit.....he's not worth the trouble. Maybe going un-claimed will make him realize he needs to get it together. He is practice squad eligible.

Devlin's done for the year. If you saw that replay, his leg snapped in two when he swung . He hit the other guy's leg near perfectly and his lower shin just went forward. It was ugly........I wouldn't let my grandson rewind it and replay it.

My wife had the same injury. After 2 surgeries, she was back on the mend. But she was down and in a boot for 2 summers.

If it was a non-displaced fracture, then he could be in good shape.

Actually I was wrong. After placing him on the year ending IR, Belichick pulled him back onto the 53 man roster. This has to be a BB slight of hand. He'd never tie up a roster spot for anyone and "hope" that they'd be healed and back on the field in 8-10 weeks. If he was sure that Devlin could make it back, he put him on the PUP and let him work back off before Thanksgiving.
