I got into a big discussion earlier with someone this morning about good/quality wins. What constitutes a good/quality win in your mind? And does Bo have any quality wins?

(I would expound on it more but have to get back to work and really, you don't care anyway)

Against a team that "finishes" in the Top 15. So yes he has 2 IMO.

2010

Oklahoma St @ #13 (AP) #10 (Coaches)

Missouri finished @ #18 (AP) #18 (Coaches)

2011

Michigan St @ #11 (AP) #9 (Coaches)

Those are actually the only wins Pelini has against any teams that finished Top 25.

The win over Texas 12-10 in the Big 12 Championship, and the win over Arizona in the bowl game that followed.

We've beat some ranked teams, but I think those two wins were 2 of our best wins because of how we dominated in those games.

I agree with Jack. That win over Texas in the Big 12 Championship Game was impressive.

Okay- I think that was one of my last public profanity outbursts when the refs put time back on the clock. We outplayed Texas in every respect in that game. We also had Suh, Asante and the rest of that impressive group of DB's. That Arizona game showed what Nebraska players could do when they focus on the task at hand. That's correct- because of Bo's history of not being able to motivate at critical times, I am giving the players credit for the impressiveness of that Arizona win.

I agree with Red_Alert's OSU and Missouri wins in 2010 and the win over MSU last year. I agree with Jack's pick of the win over Texas and Arizona.

I'd like to add the win over Clemson in the Gator Bowl and the win over OU in '09.

I would like to add the win over PSU last year, but the circumstances those PSU players were surrounded by prevents me.

Although I was too young to really appreciate it at the time- wouldn't the win over MSU in the Alamo Bowl in '03 count as a quality win?

If we don't horse collar shipley...they don't even have a chance at a FG

Henery (after making a FG) kicked-off out of bounds w/ 1:44 on the clock and a 12-10 lead, giving Texas the ball at their own 40. :L

McCoy hit Shipley for 18 yds on 1st down (against a prevent defense) to the Nebraska 42.
Shipley was horse collared to add on 15 yds to the Nebraska 27. :L
Texas was 3rd and 13 from NU's 30 w/ 8 seconds remaining.
McCoy received the snap with 6 seconds remaining, got chased by Suh and heaved it with 3 seconds remaining. The ball hit out-of-bounds with 1 second remaining, but like in all games there's a second or two delay for the time keeper and the game clock expired.

The play was reviewed and the ball did in fact hit with 1 second on the game clock. Technically stopping the clock.

Texas kicks a 46 yd field goal on 4th down to win 13-12.

Nebraska was ultimately responsible for the loss and the only argument they have is that the rules state that the clock is "only reviewable for an egregious" situation.

Definition of "Egregious" = Glaring or Flagrant

It's up to interpretation whether 1 second is Glaring or Flagrant.

It is apparently not Glaring or Flagrant during the normal course of a game or they'd be reviewing every incomplete pass to put a second or two back on the game clock, which would be silly.

However, in this situation the outcome of the game was effected by the one second, therefore the reviewing officials interpreted it as Glaring or Flagrant.

There ya go.

Michigan St was unranked before and after the bowl, so it's up to your interpretation of a "quality win".

FIFY

It's hard to believe we pissed that one down our leg because of undisciplined play. Doesn't sound familiar at all.
