Harris gets on stage, announces Warriors and pulls the cloth off to reveal this bad boy. Beers would stsrt flying everywhere. I'm not sure on the logistics of the time period for a rebrand. I'm pretty sure ownership change gives him some leeway.

Warriors with the spear would work for me, though I wouldnt run out to buy anything until I see the way the idea plays out on the actual merch.

If it was as poorly done as the Commanders “rebrand” then I wouldnt buy that stuff either.

On the other hand, I kinda liked “football team,” and also am partial to either Red Tails or Red hawks.

Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) reiterated he intends to block the RFK bill. The interesting part to me is he called for the team to meet with the Wetzels -- and it did on Monday.

Why didn't that meeting satisfy his demands?

“Ryan [Wetzel] sees there’s a moment here where they could do something very significant in terms of ensuring the legacy of that logo,” Daines told me, adding, “There’s more discussions to be had here.”
I asked Sen. Daines if he was calling for a written agreement between the team and Wetzel.

“We’ll wait and see,” he said, quipping, “I went to engineering school, not law school.”
Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton released a statement on the block by Daines:

“The team now known as the Commanders hasn’t played at RFK Stadium since 1996 and has no formal role in the legislative path for my bill with Rep. [James] Comer [R-Ky.]. The bill would not dictate that a new stadium must be built on the site. I’m hopeful we can work together to find a path forward.”

After the hearing, Daines responded to criticism that he was interfering in District affairs:

“I’m here representing a voice that is not being listened to, and that is the Blackfeet Tribe in Montana and the Wetzel family. I serve them. … I’m here representing my constituents.”
Anyway, Daines can block the bill on his own (explained in the story).

The next step would be a "markup" meeting in which members could debate, consider amendments and potentially vote on legislation.

There’s no markup scheduled for the RFK bill, though that could happen as early as within the next month. If the bill cleared the subcommittee, it'd go before the full Senate.

If it passes the Senate, it'd go to President Biden, and if he signed it, RFK would become a realistic option for the Commanders.
