anyone heard anything on Marcus Mapp in practice? I see he's listed as 2nd team RG, just curious since my buddy coached him in high school

Wow sucks about those injuries, all in places where is little to depth.

Anybody see the video from yesterdays scrimmage before they deleted it? Offense looked much improved from the few clips they showed.

If they were working on specific game situations, I wonder how much the defense was called off to at least give the offense an opportunity to execute.

Probably none, the defense was working on those same situations as well. The quotes I have seen said that the 1s for the offense are starting to gel and work much better together

I saw that. First walk-on True Freshman to be a starter at VT I do believe I heard. Sounds like the guy is a player.

"Drago" and Sam looking like "Hulk"

I watched him play in HS. He started at QB and MLB. He also lined up at RB some and out wide. He is a player...

I think it is great that the coaches aren't showing all their cards. Every little bit counts.

I always get a warm and fuzzy about the walk-ons earning schollies (in this case Byrn, Meyer, DiNardo and Trimble..possibly Sam Rogers in January).

I am excited about Rogers for some reason....I still think he should be considered at MLB down the road (I feel like he can put on the weight, he is already ripped a lil)...where he may have more impact.....

Sparks, I wish I could share your enthusiasm. Rogers is a great story. It sounds like he is coming in and making an impact. But the whip scholarships seem more like promotion through attrition. DiNardo and Trimble did not seize the job as much as they were rewarded for still being healthy and in Blacksburg. The WR just make me wish we had impact WR like Coale and Boykins again rather than the current unheralded group.

Trimble would have gotten a scholarship even if he had not moved up at Whip. He became our suicide on the kick off and punt coverage now that Asante is gone. He is the new Zach Luckett or Alonzo Tweedy. Fancy Gap gives that guy a scholarship if he doesn't have one.

I have heard that Meyer, Trimble, and Rogers are definitely worthy. That the ONLY reason why Trimble isn't already a starter at Whip was that RVD has tremendous potential of being something special there. Also heard that (although not superstars) Byrn and DiNardo have held their own and will get some time. Either way..if they have worked very hard and have shown to be an asset to the team, why not reward them with a schollie for their couple years..especially if one is available.
