Is this part of the franchise that Kong Skull Island was in? I know they set up Godzilla at the end of that movie but I haven't heard any buzz about King Kong being in this movie.

Yes, they're all part of the same franchise.

King Kong isn't in this movie. He's in the next one, Godzilla vs. Kong (2020).
