Godzilla vs. Kong will be the 4th movie of the MonsterVerse, following Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters. It will be released on Friday, March 26, 2021, simultaneously to theaters and HBO Max. First official poster was released today:

They're going to postpone the showdown because Kong wasn't feeling too well and wouldn't be in peak condition. Instead, the Chiefs will play the Bills

Yes, there is an initial fight but I would not be surprised to see a plot twist and they team up to beat a common enemy.

If you pause it in a couple of different places, it looks like it’s MechaGodzilla.

I posted this over on the Horror thread, but here it is again:

The original King Kong vs Godzilla was actually scripted to be King Kong vs Prometheus in which Kong fights a giant Frankenstein monster. But the American writer sold the script to the Japanese who already had an established Godzilla mythos and a costume, so they switched it up.
*Kong is only a savior by default as he keeps getting drunk after eating fermented berries (Seriously! It happens 2 or 3 times! Kong is an alcoholic in this), he passes out and they raft him to where Godzilla is rampaging.

*In the USA version, the guy who sold the script to the Japanese retained the international rights so he added a bunch of fake news footage as a framing narrative. He also replaced all of the music. He then sold it off for a tidy profit. This is the version I remember.
Apparently there is also an English dubbed version of the Japanese version out there.

It'll go to the few theaters that are still open but they better hope that they can get a ton of HBOMax subs for that month or else I see this one losing a lot of money. I thought that it was a good idea to keep it in May for the time being and possibly move it back if need be.

I watched the last hour or so of Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters a few weeks ago. It was god-awful. These sort of movies aren't my thing anyway, but I was still surprised at how lame it was. I'll probably pass.

Galaxy 9 the movie theater in town just reopened last week. Just in time for this battle in the heavyweight division.

The showing my son and I wanted to hit.....the 3:15, we arrive at 3:10, because of social distancing.....sold out! So we bought tickets for tomorrow at noon.

I had my Necco's. he had his Good and Plenty in our pockets for obvious reasons. All we now need is a drink, 10 bucks for two drinks, should be illegal.

As we all know ya just ignore those Japanese attempts at monster movies, cartoonish would work. So the hopes are this one delivers the goods. Fingers are crossed,

We have to approach this like we do the rasslin', can't let reality ruin a good thing. Forget Kong was a midget compared to the 200 foot tall dinodragon from the deep, forget that 200 footer can breathe fire, Shine all that and play along, just like the rasslin'.

The original 1933 King Kong a classic, one of my favorie flicks, hell, the native Chiefs name was Noble Johnson, my cinema of arts teacher was named Noble Johnson, the first flick we were to critique....King Kong 1933. The orginal Godzilla kinda sucked actually, poor Raymond Burr.

For just a fun couple hours the movie delivered. Noting special but wasn;t thinking it would be. If you're into.....ZAP!!!! POW!!!! WHAM!!!!.....good flick, if not it sucked!

Do have a prediction....

If the numbers are good expect to see another one but this time the world is being attacked by aliens, enter the tag team of Kong and Godzilla to save us.
