Maybe - but Bengals can take care of their own by winning on Sunday and then face those same Broncos....on a Saturday.

Biggest kick in the nuts for Bengals is that Broncos finish at KC, who will likely be sitting players with the #1 seed wrapped up.

Yep. Because who do the Chiefs wanna play, the Broncos in the playoffs or the Bengals. My guess is Broncos who they know, and they are tired of having to face the Bengals in the playoffs.

I will add, though, KC still plays Texans and Steelers...and if Buffalo keeps winning, that #1 still may be up for grabs...and would mean KC needing to play their starters in that final week.

Meanwhile, it could be Steelers are locked into a seed, and may decide to rest their guys in week 17 against the Bengals...

The final week of the season has the potential to be really, really interesting if things fall - even if the Bengals don't make it, there is going to be a lot of intrigue. You couldn't script it much better if you were the NFL.....(or could you? lol).

That also depends on Baltimore. Baltimore is one game back of the Steelers and they play each other this weekend. If Pittsburgh beats Baltimore, they could rest starters against us in week 17. If they lose to Baltimore, they are now battling for a home field game in the first round. There is no way we don't get their best if that is the case.

There’s not a doubt in my mind the Bengals will win the next two.

Which means playoffs on the line Week 18. In Pittsburgh. Against backups most likely.

Care to guess how that turns out?

I don't think its a given that the Chiefs rest all of their starters in Week 18, I don't think they'll play the whole game, but I think most of them will play.

Don't forget, they have the short week this week which means an extra 4 days until Week 18's game.

If they win and clinch the #1 this week, it will be on 12/25.

The divisional round games are 1/18 and 1/19, that's almost a month off with the extra 4 days.

That's a long time to not play football, even for someone like Mahomes, and lets be honest, this isn't a Chiefs offense firing on all cylinders a like a couple of years ago.

This is a great thought - because I think you are right. You want the rest...but that is a LONG ASSED time to sit. Other than a catastrophic injury - any other minor dings and such would be recovered before their 1st playoff game.

they could come out, score some points in the first quarter, and just roll over and put in the backups.

depends on whether or not the #1 seed is locked up.
