---------------------------------

Season series:
This is the first of four meetings between the teams -- they'll meet again Dec. 6 in Winnipeg. The clubs split the season series last year with the Bruins scoring a 3-2 victory in the season finale on April 2 at TD Garden when Michael Ryder scored on a penalty shot with 7:29 left in the third period.

---------------------------------

Big story:
The Bruins saw their 10-game winning streak snapped on Friday following a 3-2 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings. During the winning streak, the Bruins outscored their opponents, 47-16. The Bruins' 10-game winning streak tied for the fourth-longest in franchise history. They came up four wins shy of the all-time franchise record set back in 1929-30.

"We played a good team and obviously you want to win," center Patrice Bergeron said. "You don't want to go out there and be satisfied with one point. But still, that being said, I think we did some good things. We showed some character to come back in the game and we missed some chances. But still we kept going and that shootout there, it happens."

---------------------------------

Team Scope:

---------------------------------

Jets:
Winnipeg earned its fourth win in five games on Friday following a 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. It was Winnipeg's first road win since Nov. 3. Evander Kane and Andrew Ladd each scored and Bryan Little put the puck into an empty net with nine seconds on the clock to seal the deal. Chris Mason made 20 saves for the Jets, notching his first victory since Oct. 22. Goalie Ondrej Pavelec made 13 consecutive starts before Friday's break against the Hurricanes -- he'll get the start against the Bruins on Saturday.

Bruins:
The Bruins have gone from last place in the Eastern Conference to first place in the Northeast Division and third in the conference in a span of three weeks. After going 3-7 in October and ending the month with back-to-back losses to the Canadiens, the Bruins are 10-0-1 in November. On Friday, the team dropped a 3-2 decision to the Red Wings in a shootout. Bergeron pulled Boston into a 2-2 tie 7:52 into the third when the Bruins held an 18-10 advantage in shots. Bruins forward Tyler Seguin entered the game with 9 goals in his last 11 games but was held scoreless against Detroit. Boston goalie Tuukka Rask made 29 saves but suffered his first loss in four starts.

---------------------------------

Who's hot:
Jets top-line forward Kyle Wellwood has 2 goals, 7 points and a plus-2 rating in his last five games. … Bruins goalie Tim Thomas has certainly picked up where he left off last season when he garnered the Conn Smythe and Vezina Trophies. The 37-year-old Thomas, who has made 30-plus saves in three of his last four starts, is 10-4 with a 1.85 goals-against average and .936 save percentage. Thomas should get the start against the Jets on Saturday.

---------------------------------

Injury report:
The Jets are without defensemen Tobias Enstrom (broken collarbone), Derek Meech (knee), Randy Jones (foot) and Bret Festerling (upper-body).

---------------------------------

Stat pack:
Andrew Ladd's goal 6:25 into the second period, which gave Winnipeg a 2-1 lead against Carolina on Friday, was the 100th of his career against the team that drafted him fourth in the 2004 NHL Draft.

---------------------------------

Puck drop:
The loss to the Red Wings on Saturday marked the first time this season the Bruins suffered a setback via a shootout, where they had been 3-0 previously.

I thought for sure TT would be in yesterday. Rask looked good... We woulda had a better chance had we started TT, but he can't play every game. Gotta imagine they did this to give Rask a little something. Woulda made more sense to start Rask tonight.

Are there birds or bats in the arena? During one of the faceoffs they had the above shot and there were numerous things passing through the screen.

Gotta be bugs of some sort. I always see that in the overhead shot.
