Giving up 86 points in a Half, and you could say with a straight face they would beat MJ bulls?

No it's not, people will still talk about it and say the Bulls lost an NBA Finals game by 21 points too...

They couldn't beat the Bulls and the Showtime Lakers would crush them like a grape. Who guards Magic, KAJ and Worthy with no hand checking and no elbow to the back. ZaZa on KAJ? Who does Steph guard? Who guards Magic? It's a joke but typical. ESPN, every talk radio program and most people under 25 think whoever wins the current championship in any sport must be the GOAT

Current champion is not always the GOAT. Not even close.

But, humans evolve over time in every professional field there is. It is hilarious that people honestly believe players from 30 years ago are far superior to players today. It is completely false. If anything it is the other way around.

But, since Magic and MJ will obviously never play against these Warriors, all we can do is talk about how dominant each team is against the teams in their own era. No team has ever been more dominant than the current Warriors, despite Friday's setback to a very good team.

I also think it is sad that so many people go out of their way to accentuate negative aspects of professional sports instead of celebrating the positive. Why are we talking about the Warriors bad defense instead of Cleveland's ridiculius offensive explosion? The truth is that the Warriors were not on their A game and that they missed plenty of rotations. But, Cleveland also got benefit of a lot of whistles early and they couldn't miss from 3, even when well guarded.

So we have "evolved" to a no defense league of giving up 86 points in a half?

Yes because that half was identical to every other half of Warriors defense this year. You are beyond stupid.

No.

These two teams are playing at a super fast pace and they are two of the best offenses the game has ever seen. It is pretty simple to understand really.

Pace + elite offense = high scoring

But, you want to make it something it isn't. The Warriors are a very good defensive team. They got bumrushed last night. It happens.

Teams often used to score this high in the 80s. The Showtime Lakers gave up 130+ Points in the Finals multiple times. Last night was not about GS, it was about Cleveland.

People keep saying that if the Warriors went back to '96 NBA rules, the Bulls would beat them because of the different style of play and physicality. They then say if the '96 Bulls played in todays game the Warriors would win because you couldn't play that physical of basketball.

Agreed. Millenials have ruined modern day basketball.

I agree. Giving up 86 points in a half ( a History record) deserves an eye roll.

Again, the fake misunderstanding thing is the oldest, lamest troll trick in the book. If you and Montalban and purguy and the others are gonna troll here you need to up your game. Weak.

Nope. It is becoming impossible to stop the 3 ball at times. Back in the day, it was something that wasnt really a threat. Imagine trying to guard someone that didnt have a 3 ball in their game, then 3 all-time elite shooters coming off of 3 or 4 screens. It was 100x easier to defend a perimeter player (G or F) who cant shoot a 3, that is just a fact. The game has evolved.

First off I hate comparing era with great teams but say the W's double KAJ. Who does he kick it out to? It isnt as simple as he kicks it to Magic or Worthy and they score. The only shooter the Lakers had was Cooper and he was 34% 3 point shooter. 34%! That is Lebron in his early years. Lebron, the greatest player in the game today is shooting 39% from 3. KD, Curry and Klay are all shooting 43% from 3 and that's with a high volume of shots. See the difference, the style of play is just totally different, I dont see how the W's stop them inside but the Lakers arenf stopping them from deep, it just isnt happening. Kareem guarding the pick-and-roll with KD and Curry? That is a money for the W's. Very very difficult to compare IMO that's why O dont even bother anymore.

Yeah, the problem is that the game changes, so it becomes almost an apples to oranges comparison. If the game in the 80's had more emphasis on the 3, or today's game was played more like it was back then, the comparisons becomes easier.

I will say though, the Showtime Lakers/Warriors comparison probably comes closest to actually being apples to apples. The Warriors offense is basically the Showtime Lakers with emphasis on the 3 instead of the post.

Imo, the difference would be in whether Magic, Worthy, Byron and Michael Cooper could do a better job of chasing the Warriors off of the 3 point line than the Warriors could do of limiting Kareem and Worthy in the post.

THose 86 points were not pace of play driven though last game.
It was just fantastic half court shooting with really embarassing defense.

GS scored 8 fastbreak points.
Cleveland scored a whopping 9.

The slow SPURS and GRIZZLIES had a few more higher octane games than this one.

It was just good halfcourt shooting of 3-point shots and free throws.
Heck with the free throws alone, there was no chance for a "pace of play" up tempo.

The game slowed to a snails pass at time (YOU KNOW WITH ALL THE REFEREE WHINING).
It was a great shooting night and some horrible defense as well.

There may not have been a lot of fast break points, but the pace was still pretty fast. Both teams were taking quick shots. Also, while FTs do slow down the flow of the game, they allow teams to score with the clock stopped and can actually inflate score quite a bit. This is why the last minute of a close game can have a lot of scoring from both teams.
