yeah he probably will get 1 game if they stay as inconsistent er I mean consistent as they have been. that would be a huge loss for Philly

I'll base it on the James Neal suspension...which to me would mean likely one game. It was clear he was frustrated and made a stupid play, it was about 1 second late, came from the blindside, and the shoulder made contact with the head. You'd think it was cut and dry, but it won't be.

Not too much to question really. I see a 1 game for sure on this. BTW I blame Lavy for this. He needed to calm his team down and re-focus on playing to win not run around crying about penalties.
Hartnell was a crying bitch (probably rightfully so) and it grew from there. Lavy was screaming at the refs all night and that rubs off on the team.

IMO

Under normal circumstances, it would seem like an easy call to hit him for a game or two.

But given what we've seen so far this year, it's going to be either a fine or 10 games :L

Well he feels the need talk to the on ice officials before and after every whistle, so why not talk to the off ice ones as well?

Now that I think about it some more. Why is Giroux having a hearing if OV did not. OV clearly left his feet on that hit. To me they are pretty damn close to the same thing. Just so happenes OV did not get the guys head.

Both hits had bad intentions. Both players should be subject to the same thing.

That's a great question. Just add it to the list of inconsistencies by the league regarding discipline.

man, I still can't tell if that was a dive or not.
yeah he clipped the chin, but how much lateral force from your shoulder can you get skating up beside a guy?

Possibly the same excuse that Neal gave for not getting anything for the hit on Couturier?

OV was trying to play the puck in his skates and possibly convinced the league that he didn't see Girardi and jumped to avoid him/minimize the impact.

(Don't buy it personally, but the league bought it for Neal too).

For what it's worth, I don't think it was intentional. I think Giroux expected Zubris to skate a little harder and he would have shouldered him right in the chest. That said, Zubris DIDN'T skate harder, and Giroux DIDN'T get him in the chest, and the onus is on Giroux to make the safe play, so intentional or not it still deserves attention from the league.

The borderline lateness doesn't help his case either.

Nor does the fact that he was yelling at the ref 20 seconds earlier, which wouldn't lend a lot of credibility to an argument that it wasn't a retaliation hit.

I don't think Giroux is a dirty player at all, but you can tell it was a frustration hit due to the fact he was arguing with the refs 20 seconds earlier.

I dont buy that excuse either. He knew he was going to hit him. I think that leaving the feet for a hit and a headshot are very much related. Which is why I do not think OV should have got a pass and Giroux is in for a hearing.

Giroux given one game for this hit, as per Flyers twitter.

I dunno. Not that he didn't deserve one for being irresponsible, but Shanny picked an unfortunate time for us to start reeling the league discipline back in. Ovechkin didn't even merit a hearing, either.

Fuck, I'm just bitter right now, you should probably just ignore whatever I post.
