From the games I've seen, he's the best DE prospect to come out in a a long time...probably 10 yrs...granted he's not playing a pro prospect every game in CFB so you have to temper that when it comes to the pro game.

I hear you on 10ish, as PIT fan if we had a top 5 pick he wouldn't be the #1 guy on my board, but if the 2 OTs are gone, there's not too many guy in the draft with his potential...I would pull the trigger on Clowney.

Attitude...I'm not following you there, but you have to know everyone is telling this kid not to go out there if he's not 100%.

Motor...it was a little disturbing that he was out of shape in his 1st game, but I wouldn't say taking plays off is a pattern.

Well from the sounds of it yes he does have some people telling him to take off as much as he can this year and save himself for the Pros. I don't really blame him for this but more the fact that right before a game when the coach is expecting you to play and going to him and saying I cannot play. I just think there is a better way to handle that so I just worry about some immaturity concerns. I listened to one scout the other day talk about him and say that is the first time they have ever seen a player do something like that and they thought it was one of the worst decisions he could have made for his future as a pro other than health.

His motor I do question as this was a concern with him last year and still continues to be a concern this year. He does seem like one of those guys that when he is on he is unstoppable. The problem is when a team needs him most to make a player such as the 4th quarter in a close game will he have anything left. I guess as we get closer to draft time we will understand more about this but watching some of his games he does seem at times to just stand up and show the OT that he doesn't plan on doing anything for the play.

I agree that as a physical specimen this guy could be one of the best prospects to come into the draft in a while. Considering how much more the game these days is mental though of what separates the good from the great I just wonder if he has that part of the game. Don't get me wrong considering the Broncos are not going to be a top 10 pick I would take him in a heart beat if he made it to the Broncos but top 10 picks I would definitely have to do a ton of digging on this kid to make sure he is worth the risk.

The way it happened with Spurrier not knowing he wasn't going to play was different. I don't think Clowney had been practicing all week or he was limited in practice.

Taking plays off..,I was saying the same thing about Poe, the NT from Memphis...the knock on him was similar, took plays off, didn't dominate in a lower level conference, but he was a physical stud...KC took him top 10 and now he looks like one of the best NTs in the game already.

Cover up (which I think it might be) or not...he's supposedly had an abdominal strain...If either of us knew we just needed to finished the season in good health and next May we'd be multi-millionaires, I'd probably ask out with an abdominal scratch!

Tough to stay focused on the immediate task at hand...human nature I think. Unless I just saw him dogging it...as a GM I wouldn't hold that against him, but I would ask about it.

The Giants have been horrible, but the reality is that after this weekend they could be a mere 2 wins out of first place in their wack division.

Seven of their next 10 games are against bad teams.

Is Eli going to be this bad all year? It seems almost impossible. You'd think he'd pull his head out of his behind fairly soon. I think they probably end up with 4 or 5 wins and maybe the 6th pick. Tom Coughlin is not going to go 0-16!

IMO these teams will finish with worse records than the Giants:

Jaguars
Bucs
Vikings
Raiders
Bills
Rams
Panthers
Falcons

The thing about the Giants is they have the talent. Once they get a win, I see them getting a handful more.

I see the Giants going something like 6-10. Don't be surprised if I am right.

I have my doubts about Clowney as the #1 overall, but that's because he's struggled against bigger, more competent OT's like Richardson from Tennessee and Lewan from Michigan (one of the guys I'd like on the Panthers). That being said, he won't be held as much in the league - you basically have to get tackled by a lineman to get the flag from SEC refs. I think that will make him much more of a matchup problem.

Part of the problem is that he's been playing through pain, off-and-on, the last 2 years, due to bone spurs in his foot. It had died down some, but someone stepped on the foot in practice before the UGA game, and it's bothering him again. He's going to have surgery at the end of the season, and probably should have had it last year.
