Vs. Yankass:

13.2 IP 24 H 15 ER 14K 7 BB
ERA 9.87
WHIP 2.78
PQS 1.33

Not quite "best in the NL"

For the season (in NL):

ERA 8th
IP 7th
BAA 7th
OPS 8th
DIP 8th

Again, not quite "top of the NL."

It's mediocre, AT BEST, and trending in the wrong direction.

There is no argument that the starting pitching (entire team, really) looked atrocious this weekend series. However, those season numbers put them right about average. Mediocre, to me, would be ranked 10th or 11th in most categories. Awful would be in the bottom three spots in most categories.
I don't know if I completely agree with msgking about a lot of stressful innings catching up to the staff but I do think a lack of offense can play at least a minor factor. Some guys do thrive when they feel that their team has their back in hitting well. Others, like you, are competitive every time out and don't alter their game plan.

And others are just flat overrated in the regular season, like Bumgarner

Oh well. We suck. We sucked before, and now we do again. We got some rings a few years ago, probably be a few more until we get new ones

The problem is what to do when the NBA is done. Gonna be a boring sports summer

Let's evaluate where we are at:

This weekend:

(IP, H, ER, BB, K, WHIP, ERA)
Beedung -- 2.1/7/7/2/3/3.85/27.00
DRod -- 5/8/8/4/1/2.40/14.40
Poopturd -- 5/5/4/0/4/1.00/7.20

TOTAL -- 12.1/20/19/6/8/2.11/13.86
PQS 0.67
Any way you slice it, that's just fucking atrocious.

NL rank for the SPs as of 5.5

ERA - 13th
IP - 10th
BAA - 9th
OPS - 11th
DIP - 9th

Below average, and trending to dogshit.

The SP are DEFINITELY a #weaklink.

I won't argue that the starting rotation has been getting worse. Rodriguez, Holland and Beede has all been awful. Pomeranz has been "meh". Bumgarner has been flirting with "meh" and sits just at the edge of average. Samardzija, this last start notwithstanding, has been a pleasant surprise so far. He's been slightly above average. Put my subjective labels together and you've got a slightly below average rotation.

And with Pomeranz' awful showing today, he gets added to the first group - awful. Nice to see both our veterans and our rookies falling on their faces (of course, Beede was just one start).

I am fully willing to reserve judgement on Beede. K&K have been quite vocal in saying he was viciously ump-jacked. Sure they are grossly homeristic, but they seldom flat out lie or blame things on officials.

Starting Pitching from 4.26 through 5.9 (12 starts)

IP 51.1
H 77
ER 55
BB 24
K 46
HR 20
WHIP 1.97
ERA 9.64
Avg PQS 1.25 (Disaster)

Put another way, the AVERAGE start was: 4.1 IP 6 H 5 ER 2 BB 4 K 2 HR

And thats with three good/excellent starts from Bum.

This rotation is worst I can remember.

From Baggs:

The [Giants] have now been outscored 37-2 in the first inning and 17-0 in the first inning on this road trip.

That sort of nonsense must stop. Immediately. Or there needs to be a new pitching coach. This is atrocious. Talent be damned, even mediocre talent is not this bad.

So:

1. Hollturd moved to bullpen
2. DFraud optioned to AAA

Poopturdjia and Pooh Dramapantz, you’re on notice.

Who will replace them? I assume that Beede may take one spot but I thought he was already in line for Pomeranz' spot? So he slides over and Pomeranz returns, necessitating someone else being removed from the active roster. Then they have to make another move to bring someone in from AAA or waivers. Who in the bullpen goes down? I guess there's another fake injury.

Not to be mean but, does it really matter?

With Dutch’s recent outburst, you gotta believe he won’t finish out the season. Too bad. He seemed a good guy and an asset in the clubhouse.

Does anything we talk about on this board really matter?
I just meant, there's not much point in trying to win games. It should be all about the rebuild.

We were bad, then we were good, now we are bad again
I like good better

Then to answer your original question, it matters in the sense that I don't know what they are doing. The roster movement seems a bit much to me.
