Kumbaya, Kevin, Kumbaya. Lets just ignore that huge elephant in the corner. We are 5-2 and clearly a top team in the league......Does that make you feel better?

I don’t have to feel better JY skins are in first place. QB play is never as bad as you think it is or never as good as you think it is. 53 man unit

Yep - you have to go back 25-30 years ago just to find anyone remotely close which makes this so much more awesome. That era was also when DEs actually made sacks instead of LBs. To have the current unit have that many sacks is so rare (especially w/ Skins where guys like Kerrigan & Smith usually get the sacks).

Just hoping that the front 7 stays healthy & gets better each week. BTW - this article does a great job in pointing out that the Alabama mindset has had a pretty dramatic effect on this defense & team:

Alabama players have brought toughness — and Nick Saban-isms — to the Redskins

BTW - thus far Payne is light years ahead of Vita Vea who many folks desperately wanted the Redskins to draft. Vea is injured, has missed several games, has 0 sacks & hardly any stats & is playing on a pretty bad defense overall. Of course this could change over time, but at this pt it looks like it was a blessing in disguise that Vea was not available when the Redskins had their first pick.

Gotta say, watching AP closing out this game in this way was incredibly satisfying.

Great, tough, gritty win, without one hint of a letdown. This team is not the most talented, but I think that Saints game really lit a fire under them and they are hungry. Jay Gruden has made the lynch mob put their pitch forks back in the shed for the time being as I'm sure he and all his players know, he's coaching for his job.

Concerns
Dunbar's and Trent's health.

The passing game still has to be a concern. However, I don't think Alex played all that bad Sunday. He missed Reed on that short one and missed badly to Richardson deep, but that's about it. Was very sharp in the first, starting 7 for 8 and was really effective with the quick game. Got a 50yd PI on NY and took care of the ball. Seemed much more comfortable in the pocket.

Vernon Davis has to play smarter. He killed a drive earlier this year with an unsportsmanlike conduct call and got called for holding Sunday. Not to mention the dropped 3rd down pass.

Stroman is really struggling, but that's on Manusky for putting him on an island with one of the most dangerous receivers this league has ever seen.

The good
Doug Williams for bringing in AP and not letting Bruce fuck that up by not telling him. Gotta feeling with Bruce, he's the type of guy where if it wasn't his idea, it's not a good one.

I have no regrets on picking Scherff. He sprung Bibbs vs Dallas and sprung AP Sunday. Two words, Chris Chester. It had to be done. Gurley is a freak, but when he hits his wall at 30, I imagine Sherff will still be going strong.

I guess Jay can scheme up a running game after all. He just needed a back.

I re-sign Peterson and bring Guice along slowly next year. ACLs take time. Usually they aren't all the way back till the next year. (Dalvin Cook)

I'm gonna lay off Doctson for a bit. He's moving the chains and seems to be on the verge of becoming Alex's favorite safety blanket.

DJ is on his way to Hawaii.

Norman traveled and was able to calm things down back there.

Our young front three is a problem!

I feel sorry for Hopkins. Way has to get those laces all the way around. They have both been great.

This Atlanta game is basically our first chance since the Saints game to really see where we are at. If we fall behind, is it over? Can we contain a prolific passer?

DJ saying he's the best safety in the game and the Skins are the best team in the East, is it a sign of a huge letdown, or a sign of him and this team feeling counted out and disrespected causing them to play with a chip Sunday. Guess we will find out.

Good post. I highlighted a few of your pts.

As for Doug Williams - good response & highlights the fact that we really don't know who is running the show on all of the moves for this team. However some of the moves have been really good (drafting Allen & Payne, pickups of AP, Swearinger, Brown, Richardson, etc). Sure - we can debate the QB position (which is still TBD), but that doesn't mean that everything is bad.

In terms of Scherff - can we finally put to bed this whole notion that they should have drafted L. Williams instead. Given a little luck health wise Scherff should be able to contribute in a high manner for the next 10 years & is one of the better O lineman in the NFL. As it turns out the Redskins did fine on the DL so Williams would not really be needed at this time. Good draft pick by the Redskins.

Like most teams there are good and bad things for the Redskins but mostly good at this time - we will see if this continues.

I get it. Smith has underperformed. However, he's missing simple throws he's made his entire career. This gives me a little bit of hope that this offense might get going.

BKL has to play better . he is still slow with his reads , holds the ball too long because he is slow with his reads , misses open wrs for tds and big gains in favor of check downs and he needs to ahow he can bring this team from behind and score points in the 2nd half

the defense is playoff caliber you can bitch about stroman but he made a spectacular play last week vs giants on sheppard . he will get better as will BKL
