Giants negotiating with Alex Gonzalez

The Giants are still looking for a right-handed complement to protect Crawford, but both Bochy and Sabean have stated flatly that Emmanuel Burriss will be on the team and will be used at short. Assuming Mike Fontenot is tendered a contract, he can spell Crawford at short and he’s not bad against left-handed pitching.

If our infielders are: Panda, Stamos, Franchez, Belt, Pill, Burriss, Fonty; and we carry 2 catchers and 5 OF, where is the roster space for another IF?

Assuming they carry 12 pitchers which is pretty much a lock. Or does this snippet imply that a "right handed complement" signing would necessitate saying good-bye to Fonty?

I think that's exactly what it meant to get at. You're right, though. That was not clear unless you know a thing or two about Sabean and Giants baseball.
