Do you have a link Mac? Not that I don't believe you, just interested.

Pagan is an upgrade over last years Torres, but losing RamRam hurts.

Andrew Baggerly via Twitter says it's very close but multiple sources say it's done. Looks like the regs have already been discussing it on the off season moves thread. I was a little late.

Gotcha, thanks bud. Interesting trade nonetheless (assuming its validity). I would guess that would mean Beltran is not coming back, but I could be wrong.

If that's true... it's nice to have that kind of speed at the top of the lineup where does that leave the rest of the OF?

Rosenthal just confirmed, pending physicals and yes this basically means bye bye Beltran. It hurts to trade Wheeler and essentially get nothing in return but it'd be worse to overpay for a 35 year old with the injury history that Beltran has. Pagan will lead off and play RF. Cabrera will probably hit second and play CF with Belt in RF. Giants will have some speed at the top of the order in 2012, something that was lacking last season, among many other things of course.

Unless there is a "Met" connection between Pagan and Beltran.

RF will be crowded.

I posted this on another thread:

Pagan went from a +2.2 dWAR in 2010 to a -1.7 dWAR in 2011.

What the hell happened?

I'd much rather have Pagan in CF and Nate in RF either Melky in LF or Belt. Huff is going to be in the mix in LF too though...

Too bad they gave up Ramirez, he was a stud, I hope that doesn't weaken the BP too much.

He played exclusively in CF last year... and he was pretty spotless in RF and LF in 2010... I guess that's it.

Yeah, good call. Pagan will most likely be in CF. I'm banking on Brandon Belt having a monster spring and being an everyday player, if that pipe dream comes true, I think he'd be better suited in LF than RF. So, I penciled in Belt LF, Pagan CF, Melky RF with Nate coming off the bench.

Pagan and Torres are basically the same player, imo. Not sure why Ramirez was thrown-in?

And we gave up RamRam and Andy Towers to have him play a crappy CF for us?

Clearly, I am missing something. Did he have cataract surgery in mid-season?

2010 Torres and Pagan maybe but Torres hit .221 last year dude is 4 years older than Pagan and Pagan has been fairly consistent over his career... plus Pagan can steal much better than Torres.

More like Pagan for Ramirez with Torres thrown in.

Possibly clearing some salary space for a bigger move?

Pagan also had a brutal defensive year while Torres was well above average again.

The only thing that Pagan does that's clearly better is strike out less.

Pagan and Torres are virtually the same player, though Pagan has better instincts on the bases and Torres plays better D. Pagan is younger as well.

That lineup does not include Melky. Not that I want him anywhere near at&t park, but that guy WILL get playing time this season - whether we like it or not.
