If this deal goes through, I'm cancelling the MLB Extra Innings package next season.

Not really, but I won't like it.

If you like Extra Innings, you should check out MLB.tv. If you can stream to your TV, you can watch games on your TV, computer, tablet and phone all in HD. I don't know what the Extra Innings costs in your market, but MLB.tv is about 30% cheaper in my market and it's a significantly better product.

He's only 24 years old and has had two 37 HR seasons. He's also not just a power hitter - his OBP was almost .400.

Also, comparing Kyle Seager to Stanton is a fucking joke.

We're lucky the Seahawks aren't involved with this thread.

And as to the OP, Im taking the under.

I thought Trout would be the first 300 million dollar man, now with possibly a 13th year with stanton and 350 million, Trout will probably be the first 400 million dollar man.

and seeing how this is the Marlins willing to throw about $300 million don't give me this crap that small market teams DON'T HAVE MONEY to spend. I've constantly said it.... "Teams HAVE money... they are just TOO CHEAP" to spend it!

I'm with you on that. I think even the smallest market teams could have a $80-90MM payroll and still turn profits.

Players don't get paid when suspended for PEDs. That's what all that crap was about with A-Rod. Yankees fans were hoping he'd get the lifetime ban to get the Yanks off the hook.

Screw 'em. If the owners are dumb enough to pay it....

I'll be damned if I am gonna feel sorry for poor little Richie Rich owner who is stupid enough to pay this ridiculous amount for one player.

Yeah I only go to a hand full of games a year. 9 buck beers, 6 buck hot dogs.....

Yep. I love my Tigers, but ticket prices have risen and beers are $8.50 for 16 oz. cup at the CoPa. I can only afford to go about 2x a year. But I guess the updated local TV package they signed is a sh'load of money.

New numbers suggest 13 years and $325m.... That is AAV $25 - but I guarantee Miami is back-loading this deal with the intent to trade him in a few years (which is why I say Stanton is crazy).

You think Stanton would be crazy for inking the largest contract in MLB history (by a significant margin) two years before he even reaches free agency? That is crazy.

Wow, Stanton would actually want to sign there long-term. Good for him I guess.

325M and living in Miami.

If you can stomach playing for that org, it is a good situation for him.

And if he cant stomach playing for that org, here are 325M reasons to get over it.

The Marlins are in a corner. If they don't sign him, the Red Sox are ready to write a $30MM a year contract that will take him into his early 30s. Cherington said that they will "bend" the corporate rules to sign Stanton. If he does sign with the Marlins, then the Red Sox will do a stupid and sign Sandoval to a 7 year $275MM contract.
