I'd rather see the tigers win the WS. If they don't their owner has said money is no object and he'll spend as much as he has to next year to win a WS. That means they'll be driving the price up on any FA the rangers might be interested in next year.

I'm going to predict DET in 6 ... Tigers pitching is going to be the story.

That said ... and I hadn't read DET ownership's statement but find it strange to be talking about next year when your team is in the playoffs this year. Sounds like defeatism ... but owners sometimes say strange things ... even if it is to fire up this year's roster to prove the owner wrong.

I never had a problem with alternating home teams in the WS. If not that then I think the team with the best record should have HFA. Anything except letting the AS game determine it.

... but making WS HFA based on the total results of interleague play would put more at stake with each interleague game. We'd be seeing a AL vs NL standing every day right alongside league standings. Could even count that AS game in the standings ... having it count 2 games ... but overall interleague play would dwarf its significance.

I think I really had this wrong somehow.

At least TEX won Game 3 in 2010 against SFG.

I think that the team with the better regular season record should have WS HFA. It's the only one that makes sense because it makes a team really earn HFA. Basing it on interleague games is almost just like an extension of Selig's AS game concept. With Houston now in the AL, would you really want the Astros helping determine if you get HFA?

The previous system wasn't fair either. How fair would it be if you are a 100+ win team and homefield advantage is with a team that won less than 90 games just because it was their league's turn in the alternating year system?
