I am frustrated as well, but keep things in perspective...

We are in 1st place with a 2 game lead.

We have won 7 of our last 9 games.

In June, our series record was 6-1-2.

If you want to go pantshattery on us, you DESERVE to be spanked hard here.

Just sayin...

(I dont know, maybe you like that type of thing) :whip:

Look at calsnow, the Enforcer :mod:

I hear ya. As I said we still got a chance, and being a fan means rooting for the chance. But you gotta admit, injuries matter. This is how it looks when you lose your best hitters.

I don't have a prob with pointing out areas of concern and discussing potential solutions.

Heck, I even dont have a problem with normally level-headed fans falling into vent-mode.

I am just saying that if you go into full-blown pantshattery (you have admitted this multiple times the last couple days), than you need to strap on the armor, because you SHOULD get destroyed, given the fact that recent trends prove your pantshattery COMPLETELY unfounded...

Based on what Neukom apparently said on Ralph & Tom's show, we're going to let this season go and keep our chips for the future. I guess that's the right call, IF they can re-sign their core pitching (Cain, Tim, Wilson) and replenish with Wheeler for Chez and so on...

But it means, I think, either squeaking into the playoffs (hey we did it that way last year...) and getting crushed by teams with = pitching and >>>> offense or missing them entirely.

I saw the links tzill posted (great work by the way) about how offense doesn't matter much in the playoffs, but if the pitching is =, our chances become pretty small. Not zero, small.

And as I was reminded, we only beat the Braves last year because of errors. Our offense wasn't enough to get it done vs very good Braves pitching...and our offense is far worse this year.

Yes, msgkings is a full on pantshatter now. But I'll give it a rest and not annoy you guys by harping on it over and over. It is injuries. Simple as that...not Sabean's fault, not Bochy's, not even really Huff's or Torres'. Injuries usually are a main factor in who wins the rings.

:pout:

So what you're saying then is that the Giants having a better defense than the Braves is why we beat them last year?

Believe it or not, this team has nowhere to go but up. Nobody on our team is having an unsustainably good season so far (except Vogelson,) but Huff will regress in the opposite direction as should Durty when he returns, Belt will come back and hit better than at least somebody so that will be a slight upgrade. Hall is not going to be here much longer.

This team is incredibly frustrating to watch, so if your pants are full after coming off a hot streak, then maybe you should not watch for about a week and just check box scores.

Long story short CUT THAT SHIT OUT!

Thing is, I don't see a team out there with "= pitching," not even the Philth. Our bullpen is just too good. I think your concerns are valid and all of us feel similarly. You're not a pantshatter as I don't expect dozens of posts saying that the sky is falling. As awful as yesterday was (and it WAS awful), I try and remember that this is EXACTLY what makes a season interesting and in retrospect memorable -- adversity and how the team deals with it. We may not win the division (I think we will, but the Rox could catch us), but we'll be in it all year and at the end of the day isn't that really all you can ask?

Aside: I got the Fox DVD set as a gift this week. I watched games 4 and 6 of the NLCS. A few observations:

Posey is really, really good.
Franchez is really good.
Chez completely fucking melted down.
Timmy is not good in relief.
Casilla shit the bed miserably.
Uribe played out of his mind on both sides of the ball.
When Ross is hot, he's amazing to watch.

and finally,

Howard's bat is STILL attached to his shoulder.

Au contraire, only feeling shatty since yesterday. This is all semantics anyway, we are all still rooting for the team to do well.

Great point. I don't feel any shattier now than I did in late August last year, after the Timmeh trouble and the 7 game losing streak.

This is part of the fun.
