Guess I don't have to wait around after all.

This loss is not on the poor bullpen, though they blew it. This one, as most of our losses, is on the hitters. Or non-hitters. Goats of the game- Torres, Burrell, Huff.

Off to Tiggerland.

Goat of the game was Torres...0 for fucking SIX??? Four K's??? Dude is a mess.

Just saw the replay...wtf with that throw from Ross????

Agree...

You have hang a decent portion of the loss on Ross there. A decent throw and the game is over.

I was working during the game and listening on the radio. Jon Miller kept talking about Cain's 1,000th career strikeout and said repeatedly that he was the 12th member of the Giants organization and the 5th member of the SF Giants to get that number. I listened expecting him to at least name the other 4 SF players but I don't recall him ever saying who the other four are.

For those interested, the others are Juan Marichal,Timmeh Lincecum, Gaylord Perry and Jason Schmidt. Mike McCormick had 976 strikeouts in a SF Giants jersey and 54 as a member of the New York Giants. He makes it into the Giants 1K strikeout guys, but just barely misses the West Coast version.

Carry on with your pantshitting now. Thank you.

Damn, I know I'm spoiled because of last year's magic, but what a punch in the gut these last two games were. We shoulda swept the Chicago Scrubs!

And silly me continues to start him on my fantasy because I need stolen bases and for sentimental reasons.

Can't believe after taking the first two, with Timmy and Cain going, the Giants split the series.

Won the games started by Vogey and Zeets, but lost the ones started by Timmy and Cain. It's just impossible to figure out baseball sometimes.

I know it's the bottom two only because I watched the games, so your point is valid. That is confusing and frustrating. Still, the end result is a split on the road. No need to mention that it should have been a sweep. The bullpen will get right. They're still up there with the best relievers in the league, and some DH-action will spark the offense (... maybe?).

The pen is already right. No pen can win a game that their offense gets no hit for 10 1/3 innings.

I'm in full blown pantshat mode now re the offense. I no longer think we have enough to make the playoffs, even with our great pitching, without some changes. I hope the brass thinks so too.

Torres is finally coming back to what he always was...we are decimated by injuries, and too many other guys just aren't doing what they are supposed to be (Huff, Tejada). It's not enough, guys. They will have to decide if they want to fuck up the future to win this year. I don't think there's any choice now.

So the question is...

IS there a trade out there that will give us a chance, in your mind?

Will Reyes put us over the top? Will Cano put us over the top? Will Torrealba put us over the top?

I do not see any ONE of those rumored deals improving us enough (or in the Cano deal - at all) to deal a Wheeler or Belt type talent.

I think we make a few minor deals / waiver-wire pickups and see if the pitching can carry us again this year.

In the off season, you semi-blow-up the team (Adios Ross, Migg E5, Burrell, Whitey, DeRosa, Torres; Hola Neal, Peguero/Brown, Sanchez, Belt, a few mid-level FAs; maybe deal Durty for a prospect package, or package him with Zeets for a bag of balls).

Based on what Neukom apparently said on Ralph & Tom's show, we're going to let this season go and keep our chips for the future. I guess that's the right call, IF they can re-sign their core pitching (Cain, Tim, Wilson) and replenish with Wheeler for Chez and so on...

But it means, I think, either squeaking into the playoffs (hey we did it that way last year...) and getting crushed by teams with = pitching and >>>> offense or missing them entirely.

I saw the links tzill posted (great work by the way) about how offense doesn't matter much in the playoffs, but if the pitching is =, our chances become pretty small. Not zero, small.

And as I was reminded, we only beat the Braves last year because of errors. Our offense wasn't enough to get it done vs very good Braves pitching...and our offense is far worse this year.

Yes, msgkings is a full on pantshatter now. But I'll give it a rest and not annoy you guys by harping on it over and over. It is injuries. Simple as that...not Sabean's fault, not Bochy's, not even really Huff's or Torres'. Injuries usually are a main factor in who wins the rings.

:pout:

I agree with this post in the main. But if we totally stand pat (as Neukom may be implying) we are toast. Even small moves (a catcher, Belt doing well when he's back, etc) may be enough to give the pitching what it needs to get us back in the mix.

I'm just spent. Can't get there with what we got. Plain and simple.

I am frustrated as well, but keep things in perspective...

We are in 1st place with a 2 game lead.

We have won 7 of our last 9 games.

In June, our series record was 6-1-2.

If you want to go pantshattery on us, you DESERVE to be spanked hard here.

Just sayin...

(I dont know, maybe you like that type of thing) :whip:
