One interesting note about last night:

Jumbo kept his shifts much shorter. He had 31 shifts for just over 23 mins of ice for an average of 46 seconds. Pavs had 27 shifts for just under 21 mins (avg. 46 seconds). Seto had 27 shifts for abou 21 mins (avg. 47 secs). Compare that with patty who had 32 shifts for nearly 27 minutes, an average of nearly 51 seconds.

It doesnt seem like that much of a difference, but 5 seconds longer every shift is big and usually very long shifts wear you down much faster. Maybe that's part of the reason patty really stunk it up, especially as the game wore on. Perhaps, he needs to be more disciplined in keeping his shifts short, particularly for a guy who relies on speed.

Watching NHL on the Fly im about sick of the red wings fans that commentate, claiming about how the officiating the was favoring the sharks.

No he stunk because he sucked and didnt appear to want to be there, almost reminds of the times when it seemed like he quit playing because of Ron Wilson.

Cant make any excuses for that kind of shit, i like Marleau, but he needs to atleast be good on some part of the ice doing something good. He did nothing good last night but get off the ice

This isn't out of the ordinary. Marleau is responsible for being the last forward off the ice on a line change for defensive purposes. If the puck dosen't get deep in the zone he is often stuck on the ice for an extended period of time.

The Wings seems to be slower than past teams. Maybe it was just the rust from 8 days off or maybe they're just getting too old, but this years Wings team seems more vulnerable than before. If they keep playing like they did last night SJ will take this in 5 games max. Maybe is was a blessing in disguise to get Det over Chi this year.

On another note, Boylers was saying he couldn't get enough air in the LA series - illness? allergies? Anyway, it's good news he's feeling better; he couldn't play much worse than that LA series lol.

Under the radar: Demers is quietly having an excellent playoffs so far. Consistent play, good puck control and he's getting good position in the offensive zone. Maybe Wallin can take a few pointers from him ;).

Yeah, I thought Boyle looked a lot better than against LA. Still not great but a lot closer to what we've been used to from him...

Up until he flattens you out... His development into a really good d-man has impressed me. He isn't drawing the top-level assignments but I think he is well on his way to getting that job.

I didn't think a potato could be trained...
