After Malkin's game today, top three players in ppg (excluding Crosby, who's at 1.50):

1. Malkin - 1.38
2. Giroux - 1.23
3. H. Sedin/Stamkos - 1.16

Geno's having a heck of a year.

One more thing:

Tangradi is playing really good hockey right now. It's not showing up on the score sheet yet, but if he keeps this up, he's going to have value to this team, either as an everyday skater or as trade bait.

I'm going to bump one of the threads in which I cited statistical regression as the reason the Penguins were going to start scoring soon. :thumb:

Statistical analysis is good! :)

Thinking the same thing and the same with Jeffrey. It will be rewarding when either of them get on the score sheet.

Should've been a 4 goal game for Geno...stick slashed from his hands on an empty net chance. Oh well, I'm sure he'll take 3G-2A for the day. :)

That would have put him in first place in scoring with Sedin.

Jeffrey looked good, too. All over the ice, and looked surprisingly dangerous with the puck on his stick.

Between the play of those two, losing Staal hurts just a little less.

The thing I was most impressed with in this game was the discipline of the Pens...especially a guy like Geno. He's nearly always the one who reacts emotionally by taking a run or a stupid penalty of some sort. Instead, he played his game, was an offensive machine, and drew someone else into making a stupid play.

When Malkin channels his anger into his offense, he's unstoppable.

Vinny has a stick up his butt apparently:
JoshYohe_Trib Josh Yohe
Also, word is that Lecavalier left the building before the media was allowed into Tampa's room, so no quotes from him yet
JoshYohe_Trib Josh Yohe
Boucher said that Malkin tried to hurt Lecavalier's knee

OH PUH-LEASE! You tried to run Malkin, Malkin ducked you; you tried to get him to fight, Geno shoved you away and skated off; you tried to chase him down, he butt bumped you, so you sucker punched him in the head. Get over yourself Vinny.

Yeah, not sure how ducking a check to protect your entire well-being is "trying to hurt someone's knees..."

I think what shocks me most about this "recovery" from the losing streak is that they're doing it on the road in Fla - a place where they historically can't seem to win.

Way to go Pens.!

SERIOUSLY! After the Caps loss I felt good about the team, because they actually played well in that one...but then I saw the schedule. Not only Florida games, but an early Sunday one to boot. NEVER do well in those.

Mike Milbury compared Marchand's hit on Salo to Malkin ducking Vinny. How? How in the WORLD are those similar? If you duck someone, and they miss hitting you, it's their own freaking fault. Why is this even a semblance of an issue?

I'll wait for someone not named Milbury and not in the Lightning organization to say something about Geno before I panic.

LOL!! It's Milpuke. He's a Bruins homer & he played for Don Cherry so goonery is in his blood.

I agree, but that's basically saying that Geno ducking a hit is suspension worthy. I haven't seen too many people complaining outside of the Lightning, but they're wussier than I thought if a little incident like that caused such a ruckus. Not Geno's fault you had a crappy surgeon Vinny.

Video along with Mad Mike and Keith Jones commentary:

A few things:

1. I don't think Malkin was going at Vinny's knees, but Geno doesn't exactly have a squeaky clean resume either.

2. I don't like sucker punches and it looks like Vinny is getting away with it, as BobMac is tweeting that there will be no supplemental discipline.

3. Remind me to never visit Venetian Dental (I try to steer clear of blind dentists).

If Geno had been going at the knees, he wouldn't have been leaning away from from the hit. Geno ducked the check, successfully, as there was very little contact.

I realize Geno has a history with Vinny, but how anyone could ever think ducking someone is cheap is beyond me. Also, he does this ALL THE TIME. It's not like some personal vendetta. The sucker punch was cheap (along with the punch after the refs separated them quite clearly), but not bad enough to warrant discipline...though a fine would be nice.

Also, LOL at Jones saying Malkin sneak attacked Vinny with a shoulder to the head. Ummm...he bumped him back with his butt because Vinny was shadowing him up and down the ice. Seriously, if a bump like that sets you off you have anger management issues.
