I don't see it. Not really similar players, except for they hit for empty averages. And Fairley has slightly above average speed, Velez was at least fast.

I really don't like Whiteside as a catcher.

He may call a good game, but he has a hard time actually catching the ball sometimes, he doesn't have a strong arm and isn't very accurate either.

I'll bet if you counted how many times Whiteside dropped a ball, it would be around 5 or so. Something we never saw from Buster or Bengie... or Matheney or Santiago...
