Cain vs. Zambrano

Should be an interesting match up. This is going to be a tired cliche by the end of September, but this is as close to a "must win" game/series as it's going to get for the Good Guys.

Not to be argumentative, but this is not really as close as it's going to get to 'must win'

Colorado and SD series' are. I'd hate to lose 2 to the Cubs but we could and still be ok. Still control our destiny. Lose 2 to the Rockies and we got bigger problems.

But yeah every game in the next 12 counts. It's like 3 weeks of playoffs.

Should be a good one. I love Cubs' series. Two proud cities that have nothing to do with New York or Boston battling it out for baseball supremacy. What could be better? Oh, yeah. A pennant race! Go Giants!

In theory you are 100% correct. However, my gut tells me that the Giants are going to need to take every advantage they can as Colorado is going to win the lion's share of their games.

Uh, the Cubs haven't been battling for baseball supremacy since 1945. Just sayin'. ;)

It's more of series-to-series invented rivalry that spawned from a beautiful NLCS in 1989 (and the overwhelming number of Chicago transplants in the Bay Area). But yeah, curses, Bartman and all that. Wouldn't expect anything less from a White Sox fan! :).

Indeed. I don't hate the Cubs as much as the Dodgers or Yankees, but I do root against them generally.

As you should. You should check out this rapper named Serengeti. He takes on characters and one of them is a die hard Chicago fan. He literally has a hook that goes, "Favorite Actor: Dennehy, Favorite Drink: O'Doul's, Bears, Hawks, Sox, Bulls." Some of the other characters are pretty weird, slightly creepy and lead to some strange music. But the stereotypical Chicago guy is hilarious. Basically, if one of the dudes from that "Da Bears, Da Bulls" SNL skit made a rap album, it would sound like Serengeti. Even if you aren't into hip-hop, you will laugh your ass off.

Hey fellas!

Won't be able to watch the game tonight, headed to work in a few

Good news- I will be at both wed and thurs game rocking an orange buster posey jersey. Tomorrow I will be right behind the cubs dugout so keep an eye out for me. Lets get a sweep!

GO GIANTS

I'd love that. I have uncles and cousins that sound just like those guys.

Living in Chicago I've learned that it is a great city with good people, but the sports fans are just ridiculous. I guess I should have known it all along, but try not to buy into the stereotypes (a la SNL), but they are pretty spot on.

That's funny. And kind of sad. Enjoy the games! Hope work goes by quickly and profitably.

From Baggs:

Let’s play two!

Pablo Sandoval hit a grand slam off his fellow Caraboboan, Carlos Zambrano, in spring training. Just thought I’d mention that.

Wind appears to be blowing out. We could have a thunderstorm cell or two later tonight.

Ross cf
Sanchez 2b
Huff 1b
Posey c
Burrell lf
Guillen rf
Sandoval 3b
Uribe ss
Cain p

I'm going to bet $500 on a Cain loss tonight.
