Maybe a little mentally tired from all the pressure games?

I don't think so. Wilson looks off for some reason, but every other reliever is doing pretty much what you'd expect.

Just an FYI to msgking:

Wilson got 2 innings (32 pitches) of work in Chicago, Romo got 1.2 innings (23 pitches) of work. These are normal loads.

Affeldt's probably been the most used, and most effective, 60 pitches since the 26th.

hate to even suggest this but maybe a hidden injury?

Yeah. I mentioned a possible elbow injury earlier. Pure speculation, of course. But I worry a bit whenever a pitcher adds a pitch because there's a possibility of new stresses leading to an injury.

my bad, i was away from the gamethread until 7ish.

I was going to sift through the pages but i think i got the gist - MadBum excellent, offense nonexistent through 8 (panda and gamer looking good)

I got my games worth of "torment" during the last inning and a half, gulped it down like a double shot.

I would prefer to give Wilson a day to cool out but cannot picture a scenario where the Giants can blow out a team in Comerica..I'd opt for closer by committee,

Random fact:

Schierholtz OBP since Jun 14 is .375, that's 90 points better than his BA over the period.

I'm jetlagged here in London, gonna get some shuteye and hope to catch a bit of tonights game (midnight start!!)....Go Zeets, go Giants.

off to Barcelona on Wednesday; If I run into Nolan I'll kick him in his vagina.

From Baggs:

"The Giants have gotten 21 innings from their starting pitchers over the last three games. Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner have combined to allow two runs. And none of the three have a victory to show for it."

No wonder Bochy went to Lopez and then Wilson so quick, from the Detroit News:

Bumgarner pitched five-hit ball into the eighth, when the Tigers put together a scratch-and-scrape rally that began when Bumgarner put Inge aboard with a one-out walk. Bumgarner departed in favor of Sergio Garcia, a right-hander, which pushed Leyland to pinch-hit Andy Dirks for Austin Jackson.

No Romo.
