15 games over .500, 3 game lead.

Too bad there are 40+ games remaining!

Good win Giants. I'm hoping you sweep, and i think there's a real possibility you do that. Is Posey gonna be back tomorrow?

Apparently they're not too concerned about him, and that he is supposed to return "in the next couple of games."

Your Nats are up 6.5 games. I don't think you'll find a Giant fan not rooting for the Nats over the Braves. :)

Great win, no Posey, Zito on the mound (yes, he's been okay this year but he's not an ace up there), one of the best teams in the NL and we pull it off.

Zito with the near completo

Couldn't ask for anything more from Zeets

Gotta have him on the playoff roster if they face ATL again.

In what capacity do you see Zito in the playoffs should we remain as is? I trust our other 4 starters more so then Zeets...blowout long relief?

vs ATL, game 4. Leading series 3-0

Playoff rotations are always about who's pitching best at the time. It's not out of the question Zito can be an asset.

Maybe bullpen and bench take precedent over him but he deserves playoff consideration against ATL.

Can't they shuffle the rosters after each series? (hoping we have this problem)

Zito vs. Braves hitters (since 2000): .212/.268/.322/.590

4 Wins 1 Loss
ERA 2.03
WHIP 1.050 <----- lowest against any opponent in his career.

In short, Zito owns the Braves. So your original statement was immediately recognizable as a nod to Zito's history against the Braves. No need to back track - if we play ATL in a seven game series, Zito should get consideration to start a game depending on what is going on with Vogey and Timmy.

Agreed - Zeets was huge today.

2010 was much more clear - Tim, Cain, Bum, and JSan were brilliant down the stretch, and Zeets had struggled all year. Bochy made tough but excellent choices leaving him and Guillen off the playoff roster.

This year is much less clear so far. You can't leave Cain, Bum, or Tim off the roster, but I would understand there being a tough choice between Zeets and Vogey IF Vogey continues to struggle.

And you make a good point about Zeets vs Atl. If it came to a game 4, Zeets would be the preference over Vogey at this point.

LOL. Giants and Dodgers each have 37 games left, but I get your point that there is a lot of time left. However, if we go 22-15 to close out the season, do you think the Dodgers will go 25-12 or better? I don't. 22-15 is very doable for us considering our remaining schedule.

In football terms there's about 13:30 left in the fourth quarter, and we're up by a touchdown. Our first-string tailback just went down (Melky) but we have depth. Could be worse.

Or conversely (still talking football), we're 8-4 with 4 to play, LA is 7-5, and we have 1 more game against them.

19 of our 37 remaining games are against the Astros (3 games), Cubs (3), Rockies (7) and Padres (6). 22-15 is definitely doable.

And currently holding the tiebreaker (which admittedly plays lqrger in football than baseball)
