So those ads they keep running on TV (and radio) to sell you a Matt Cain 'perfect game' bat, limited to 2012 of them for $100...I don't get the economics:

You get max $200K, then the cost of making the bats, the constant ads, labor, etc. Is that a money maker?

Shouldn't it be a ball anyway? That bat doesn't have any hits in it.

You don't like free money? The manufacturer is probably a one man operation with all the idle capital he needs to churn these out. Otherwise the commemorative item should be a ball - as iHatedogers points out - that makes more sense.

Since Melky has been such a big disappointment this year, maybe they would take him back straight up for Sanchez.
