Last year, his problem was that he went up there looking for a walk. That meant that his AFTER-thought was to swing, which meant that he was behind on all the pitches.

This year, when he swings, his bat has an upper-cut to it, so he swings through most pitches, AND he is looking for the walk. Bad combination.

JT stated some serious concern about him the other day when talking to Tommy T.

Yes, and he fouls off a lot of very hittable pitches. He works so damn hard to get a favorable count, and misses/watches/fouls off a good pitch to hit.

I don't know why you guys are so considered about Belt. All he needs to do is learn the only way you get a hit is by swinging the bat. Simple thing he just needs to read.

He has little to no faith in himself to get a hit when he swings the bat right now, and he isn't going to get veteran calls at the plate. Plus, he should probably notice that being taller than a lot of professional baseball players makes his strike zone seem bigger to most umps. I agree that he just needs to swing the bat, but that is all mental and raking in Fresno can really help a guys' psyche. I liked the plan of starting him down there at the beginning of the year, but that was pre-Huff implosion. However, a Pill/Sanchez/Posey platoon for a month doesn't seem like such a bad plan to me right now, either.

just woke up. remembered the game was on. fllipped the tv over to 40. belt is up in the top of the 2nd. look at the score and see 6-0 Mil. rubbed my eyes. thought about who was pitching. remembered it was zito. wasnt really surprised.
