In his first year as head coach, Kubiak led the Broncos to a 12-4 regular season record and a Super Bowl 50 victory, his fourth Super Bowl title as a coach and first as a head coach. He is the only person in NFL history to win a title as head coach of the franchise for which he played in a Super Bowl. In his career, as a player, coordinator and head coach, Kubiak has been a part of seven Super Bowls.
Words cannot describe how down I am about this development. Of course, I support Kubiak's focus on his own health and family but as a Broncos fan, I feel like someone died.
We'll be fine but this is just a sad, sad day. Thanks Coach Kubes. You've always been a great Denver Bronco!
I remember the '91 Championship Game vs the Bills when Elway was knocked out of the game ... It was 10-0 in the 4th quarter and Kubiak led the offense to a TD, then we recovered the onsides kick ..
We were driving .. Steve Sewell fumbled - I believe on what was his last play as a pro - and the Bills won
Kubes was money in that spot .... His last game at QB
No matter where he went later on as a coach, he was always a Bronco, and was destined to come back
Kubiak is a classy guy - who bled blue and orange. I will miss him as HC. I would love to shake his hand and get his autograph. Best of what life can bring to Gary Kubiak in the future.
We have all been very lucky as Bronco fans to have had Gary Kubiak come in as HC and do what he did. No matter how good the circumstances are, it is nothing short of incredible to come in and coach a team to a Super Bowl victory. He has been a hell of a coach.
OK, damn. I guess when Barry Switzer did it with the Cowboys one could argue that it was "short of incredible".
“As I told our team last night, this is an extremely difficult decision to step down as head coach. I love to work and I love football, but ultimately the demands of the job are no longer a good fit for me.
“I gave everything I had to this team the last two seasons, but this year, in particular, has been tough on me. As hard as it is to leave this position, I know that it’s the best thing for myself, my family and the Denver Broncos.
“I’ve been blessed to spend more than two decades with the Broncos working for Mr. Bowlen and a great organization from top to bottom. I’m forever grateful to this team, in particular John Elway and Joe Ellis, for giving me the opportunity to serve as its head coach. There are countless others to thank, including players, coaches, personnel staff, trainers, support staff and fans.
“Although we fell short of our goals this year, I’m proud of our teams these past two seasons. Helping to bring Mr. Bowlen, his family and this organization its third Super Bowl is something that will always be very special to me.
“I’m not sure what my future holds, but I know that I’ll always consider myself a Bronco. This team is in good hands with a lot of outstanding people, and I expect great things ahead for the Denver Broncos.”

Not sure this is really health related. He is resigning not retiring. Kinda really sad to tell you the truth if not a health/family decision.
You normally say I consider myself XYZ when you work for ABC.
