I've been unsure whether we'd see this day happen until I awoke this morning. Bizarre feeling.

Usually, I'm on pins and needles all week long awaiting the kick-off on Saturday. This year, I don't really give a shit.

Is it due to the opponent? A terrible FCS team that got ass-whipped by Marshall last week? Is it the fact I find it incredulous that we're playing college football in the middle of a pandemic? Is it the fact I don't believe in Neal Brown?

Maybe it's simply that this pandemic has left me somewhat depressed. Admittedly, I've become much more negative and feel more doom and gloom than any other time in my life. My practice has rebounded well, but what is its immediate future? Is the damn virus going to take control again in a couple of months?

It's a tough time for all of us. I'm hoping college football will provide a nice break from all of the craziness going on in our country. For Mountaineer fans like us, that starts today.

Well... I watched us beat the shit out of one of the worst teams I've ever watched with my own two eyes yesterday. I guess it's better to win convincingly over such an out matched opponent than struggling.

I am concerned with our CB's. While I know they were often in zone, I saw them completely turned around along with leaving WR's wide open.

The silver lining... ISU, KSU and KU all lost to Sun Belt teams. And, TT barely held on to beat a bad FCS team.

Things to take away from game 1. Our secondary is lacking. Austin Kendall really does suck. Garrett Green is going to be something special. The running game is improved. (No matter what happens from here on out, that was better than any point last year.) Finally, as bad as the Big 12 looked, we may have a shot to win it this year. Well, at least to lose to OU in the championship...

More than likely depressed. I can tell you first hand how bad I got, work and not going anywhere to do anything for 4 months was horrible. My relaxation is the Casino at Charles Town. Glad I can get out and do what relaxes me now. Is there a good chance of catching the Corona at the casino? I would say it is larger than other places....people from all around come in there. I wear a mask, i carry hand sanitizer and use the shit out of theirs, at the end of the day, I'm high risk for death from the Corona, I'm morbidly obese, and have extreme high blood pressure, but if it kills me, it is better to die doing something I enjoy than eating myself to death. Which is what was happening with my depression from working and never leaving work. I will take all the precautions I feel is necessary to avoid catching it but if I do I do. What did they do in 1918 during the flue epidemic? There may never be a good long lasting vaccine, look at the yearly flue shot, which is not all that impressive against the flue. Enjoy yourself as much as your comfortable with, don't let the depression get you or it can be worse than the Corona.

Well I saw the game in a totally different way...with 11 players half of them Starter on Offenses, first game of the season, no Spring Ball, no summer workouts.. "CO-DEFENSIVE COORDINATORS.. against a team no matter how bad they were, already had one game under their belt and came into this game with adjustments to what they do.. I was pleasantly surprised...I expected false start penalties , holding calls, players going the wrong way on just about every other play....really saw it only a handful of times on defense ....in the secondary.. The Addae interception was awesome..Tykee Smith had a monster day..just seemed...as you would expect ...especially on defense.. there was some communication breakdowns that I thought they did a good job cleaning up at half time..

The fact they got down to really scout team players and put up 56 points and ton of kids got on the field was huge...

Brown looked more comfortable on the sideline which was a bit surprising...with none of his kids seeing things at game speed since last November it would have made me a bit nervous..

The receiving corps even without Simmons looked good ...I know there were a couple of drops..but last year they dropped more than they caught...

Like what the Linebackers did...DE's got better as the game went on......good stuff....

Doege was good.....would have liked to see him take a few more deep shots...Marshall crushed them on the back end ....Garrett Greene...has some swag...I hope its not Baker Mayfield swag....Like when Brown grabbed him by the shoulder and had him chill....but the kid has skills...

Thanks for the nice note. I’m definitely dealing with some depression. Sorting through it all. I’ll be good again.

Missed everything as I was helping the in-laws move into their new home in Delaware. At the end of the day on Saturday, I was ready to die. Left late Sunday, missed all the NFL day games by the time we got home. Sat in my easy chair and slept through the Sunday night game. Can't believe that the wife wants to go back again this weekend. She may be going solo unless there is an arrangement to leave in time to watch the Steeler game. Some wishful thinking there.

They moved to Smyrna, about 10 miles north of Dover. Not on the beach, but close enough for me. Glad they got of NJ. They are starting retirement and NJ taxes are ridiculous. Nice area to the point wifey is interested. We have 2 Grands in the area, so for now, you’d have a better chance hitting Powerball and Mega Million on consecutive nights than getting her to move.
