I see you’re new to 2019, welcome. You’ll see people of a certain side get angry when someone of color and/or a woman gets killed off and then you’ll see a certain side get angry if they have to see gay or trans people on the shows they watch.

I'm not new to 2019, I'm a millennial in one of the most liberal cities on the planet.

Doesn't mean that politicizing entertainment doesn't still annoy me.

I also read something about how people were pissed that the Dothraki were the first wave against the white walkers. A lot of people who watch the show are liberal and perceived that as using the people of color as cannon fodder.

A friend of mine posted on Facebook that the show was reinforcing negative stereotypes about people of color by having the unsullied slaughter the unarmed soldiers. She also mentioned that having Daenerys glass the city also reinforced the stereotype that women are too unstable to be leaders.

Can't people just enjoy the show without letting your political beliefs get in the way?
male, white privilege FTW, bitches! woohoo...

I'm fine with the Daenerys the Terrorist story arc that we're getting but it definitely could have been done better, especially if Cersei's plan to use the common folk as a human shield actually made sense.

She invites all the people inside the city walls but then she's up in a tower in the Red Keep with Qyburn, The Mountain. and a few other King's Guard, while the rest of them are out on the streets. That would have made sense if Daenerys didn't have a dragon.

Daenerys didn't necessarily know where she was but she didn't even look in the most obvious spot because she didn't seem all that interested in finding her. If Cersei created a scenario where Daenerys actually did have to burn innocents to get to her then I think people would be a lot more accepting, even if the bells were ringing.

If Gendry ends up on the Iron Throne, I'm going to lose my shit. That would be an epic fail of an ending.

Too bad they killed Ser Dontos. He would have made just as much sense.

I think this season has been good. But I expected it to be rushed.

IMO, the episodes before the battles have been pretty great, but more of those were needed to give a better pace to the overall story. The battle of Winterfell was visually stunning and an incredible technical achievement, but frankly a few decisions made little sense and that hurts its overall standing and enjoyability.

Last week's episode was almost great... I just think they went way over the top with Dany.

I'm going with Strong Belwas, Patchface, or Lady Stoneheart on the throne.

Or perhaps Dany executes Tyrion, Bran worgs the dragon to death, Dany has a jello fight with Sansa, and Arya slips in to kill Dany. Jon heads north to rebuild the wall and restarts the Nights watch. Just when we think Sansa will be Queen, the iron bank arrives and rules the 7 kingdoms. Bronn lives out his days fat and happy in Highgarden.

I think D&D had to choose between huge shocking reveals and slow character development and a more complete story.

Her actions had to be CLEARLY immoral and not subject to interpretation.

What is the general consensus among ya'll for this season?

A lot of people are bitching and Rotten Tomatoes has given this season awful reviews so far. I think part of the griping stems from the high expectations of this season, but I haven't thought it has been bad.

I honestly can't imagine how the last episode will go. I don't think there will be a result that will satisfy anyone.

I have a feeling that there will be a lot of loose ends by the end of the season so that HBO has options for spin offs. From what I've read there is a prequel in the works and I wouldn't be surprised if they run a prequel for 4-5 years then do a sequel to this season and use the surviving characters or somehow revive those who died.

Pretty funny how people tend to politicize this shit though:

I've enjoyed it overall. I don't have issue with most of the plot points or story decisions. The real issue is the show needed more time to pull it off. And I'm not talking multiple seasons either. Like if we just had 2 extra episodes, that would make a world of difference in terms of character development. That's the reason some of this has felt unsatisfying; you're missing that setup. It's like we got out appetizer, had a couple bites of the main dish and then skipped straight to desert. Last season was a bit like that as well. Like imagine if in those extra episodes we got some additional scenes of Dany failing to make in roads with the Houses of Westeros and you can slowly see her blood starting to boil as she realizes people aren't just going to accept her rule just because she's there. Or if we had scenes that show Jamie wrestling more with his decision to go back to Cersei. Or scenes showing Cersei plotting her defenses, fitting the Iron Fleet with Scorpions and planning the attack that ultimately took down Rhaegal.

It's the pacing that's been the real problem and what's sad is, it really wouldn't have taken much to fix it. If the last two seasons would have been full 10 episodes seasons just like the rest, I'd wager most all the stuff people are bitching about now would have been addressed in a way that would be satisfactory. People still might like the overall plot outcome, but at least the details would have been there to back it up

I am quietly hoping the BRAN is warging Dany concept has some truth.
It would be a quality use of subversion instead of the hamfisted subversion for the sake of it we got so far....

He warged into the ravens, just before the actual appearance of the night king seemingly doing nothing in that battle.
And now with mad queen arc, there are a few coincidences as well.

There was some ravens flying around
then some raven noises
then a tortured inner battle on Dany's face
then she just went batshit insane murdering evil rampage of innocents.

The idea that BRAN is long dead and the 3-eyed raven/Children of the Forest are the true bad guys has some potential.
That theory while probably not true makes a lot more sense than simply the reality of poor writing.

That's hilarious. All the plot holes and character motivations that don't make sense, but nah that's not the problem. Lol.

The show is shit because the writers and showrunners are just terrible at their jobs and can't write without GRRM holding their hands. That's about it.

I'm now hearing that even the actors on the show are talking about how bad this season has been. I just don't know what took them so long. It's been shit since the middle of season 5.

Just curious, since I see everyone bitching about the “fast travel”, did they ever say how long it took for the armies to get there? Did you want two episodes and 3 hours dedicated to them just walking and saying how long it takes? I would prefer they jump to the actual fighting rather than taking the Dragon Ball Z 6 episodes of filler.

I will ask my nine year old just what kind of filler there is in dragon ball z to see if he concurs.

So, Aerys II plans to burn Kings Landing, planting wild fire around the city. Jaime Lannister stabs him in the back to save the city from destruction. Fast forward a few years, and, at the moment of the city's surrender, Aerys's daughter, Daenerys decides to burn the city down (note the remnants of wild fire planted by her father erupting as dragon fire lays waste to all). Full circle.

Bronn lives out his days fat and happy in Highgarden.

No, that's just not GoT enough. Bronn shows up and demands "payment" from Tyrion in front of Daenerys. Bronn's not clued in about Deanery's present temperament. She's all fuck this shit and has Drogon eat Bronn (we've not seen a dragon eat someone, yet).

I do like the idea of Bran warning Drogon...
