actually patty stopped backchecking. It was a 3 on 2 with patty coming back on gaborik and for whatever reason he stopped skating instead of taking one or two extra strides and tying up gabby's stick. Demers looked bad but actually he had the center driver.

Nevertheless, the sharks have started great, so if they keep this play up, they will win. They are skating circles around the kings and forechecking like mad.

Demers needs to front the net not skate into Nemo on that play, he had his back to brown,kopitar, and Gaborik. If He is facing them that play doesnt happen because he could front on Gaborik before the shot happens.

Marleau late on the back check a factor sightly but Demers was defending Nemos pad not the rushing kings forward biggest factor.

Yeah - I thought Patty could have taken away his stick and that would be a non-play... If he ties him up early then Demers doesn't get stuck in no man's land...

Thats a solid period and a GREAT performance from nemo who had a solid 3 great stops (at least king and carter).

And the bottom 6 forwards and D have officially tied jumbo, patty, cooch, burns, and pavelski in goals. That's nuts! Torres (2), Hertl (2), Nieto, sheppard, brown, vlasic, braun. That's impossible to defend. Wow...

Great job by Shep to even the score - one of the few shifts were it didn't feel like we were a bit on our heels.

We need to establish a more physical presence in their zone. The Kings are already misbehaving and that will only add to the temptation to take stupid penalties. Lots of SJ powerplays == good times for us. Nemo has looked better this period - he still sort of flops around (sort of like a spider on a hot pan) but he's coming up with some good saves and that's keeping us in this thing.

That was thinking going into the playoffs, who in the playoffs defensively can match san jose's top 12? I cant think of any team east or west that can. Getting Hertl back was beyond huge, and then to have him producing like he never missed a game? Who does this?

This kid could end up being a very special player in this league.
