Ebron was only in the game for 20 snaps all game. Fauria and Pettigrew both were on the field for more snaps (Fauria 30, Pettigrew 39).

So while I agree -- he may open it up for the offense in the future. He was used in less than 1/3 of the offensive plays last night.

Seeing a small glimpse of Lombardi's mind last night. He learned from Payton. He will use that 1/3 and expose it. The tweaks to Stafford looked good also. I may have to smoke up some crowe.

The NFL is overwhelming to many rookies. Ebron still getting small amount snaps later may mean something first couple weeks, no big deal. IMO

The run game is my biggest worry. Decent run game only means being able to expose more.

That five-wide that the Lions went to several times is scary. I couldn't see exactly who was lined up where but I know Ebron and CJ were on the inside a few times and Tate at others.

Best part about that are the underneath routes. The defense keys in on those and it opens up for the guys going deep. If they're covered, Stafford just tosses it underneath for 3-5 yards. Almost impossible to stop as long as the receivers don't drop the passes.

Very very difficult to stop when you have CJ lining up in the slot and the other team has to figure out how to play that.

That 3 TE + CJ set, where the receivers are 6'4", 6'5", 6'5", and 6'7" has to be a nightmare for opposing DBs.

Yes in deed, TP. I can only imagine how many red-zone plays they have with that lineup. Im not quite sure I've even seems anything like that in the NFL either.

Agreed 100%. The first couple weeks for a rookie are getting acclimated to the speed of the game and learning the new offense in live game situations. Some pick it up faster than others, while some take time.

I only put his snap count on here after Lionstop said he helps Tate get open. It may be the case going forward, when he gets regular playing time, but it had little effect in the 1st game.

With that being said they clearly dominated the giants from start to finish. Once again though penalties are an issue. They cant be giving touchdowns to good teams because of penalties. They still need a kicker. Stafford is on his way to an elite year like many of us predicted. How bad is the giants offense that they couldnt light up our piss poor injury depleted secondary? They may have a top five worst offense this year. I was way off about elis yardage total, but when the lions play good passing offenses we are going to see a lot of high scoring affairs.

Agreed. It gives Detroit a 2nd option and also gives them a guy with great hands. I was really impressed by his overall game last night.

Not to beat a dead horse, but after watching Tate, I hate the Ebron pick even more, which I didn't think was possible.:pound: I'd be surprised to see Ebron reach the 35-40 catch plateau this year.

Yeah the ebron pick may be the worst first round pick ever. I agree. They got tate which was awesome, he is going to have a monster year in that offense, then resigned pettigrew. If the lions had drafted a defensive stud or an offensive tackle in the first round I would have been ecstatic.

Not sure if the Giants are a bottom 5 team. Anyways, everything said here is pretty accurate. The Ebron thing will alw a be highlighted in cases where he didnt do much. He definitely helps make the offense a very intriguing one though as he still threatens a defense. He had a few opportunities that got away.

You can't spell 'derelict' without 'Eli'.

Curious as to why you thought Slay was a dud? Other than the PI call, I thought he looked solid. He's still got room to grow, but I thought he was far from a dud. Could you expand on why?

Slay was targeted 8 times and only allowed 3 receptions, no pass went over 9 yards. That 1 penalty carries a lot of weight in some minds I guess.

Slay is also tied for the lead in passes defended with 3

He's just bitching, I replied on another thread, then saw these. What can you do, though? We win big and two days later we're back to this nonsense.

Slay had a fine game, no reason to call him a dud. I'm assuming he's shitting on Couplin because of the BS roughing the kicker penalty, otherwise I'm not sure what he did wrong. Broyles didn't even play, so clearly he blows. Smh...

Also, I love how he predicted Eli to shred us up to the tune of 300+ yards, and when he didn't it's because Eli sucks, not because our secondary perhaps isn't the dumpster fire he proclaims it to be. I guess that's what happens in this media-infused day and age when the team doesn't draft the exact player a guy wants to see drafted.

In the end, though, everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, some opinions just flat-out suck.

My old HS track coach used to have a saying:

"Opinions are like assholes- everyone has one, but that doesn't mean everyone needs to share."

Can someone please pass this along to the hyperbole police?

Hold on there buddy. I wasn't saying he was simply bitching. I was honestly curious why he thought that. Maybe he saw something I didn't. And if so, I'd like to get his perspective.

We just had ourselves a nice win and I'd like to think we could try and have a decent conversation about our thoughts.

I wasn't implying that you were suggesting that at all.

That was my observation based on his posts this afternoon on multiple threads.

It just baffles me that some people go through soooo much effort to find negatives to complain about. His "duds" that he felt compelled to share really weren't that convincing at all, which suggests, to me, that he was just looking for something to complain about...

I see that banned comment on your signature on the bottom, too... did you get warned on a different board or something? None of your behavior here seems ban-worthy at all, your posts are pretty much always football-first.
