Don't be a jabroni.
Game day again, 630pm on FDS and TNT as the national broadcast.
Was going to take the kids to Knotts today but the weather isn't worth it, stayed home and got a bunch of stuff done. Grilling tri tip and lobster, sides of mac and cheese, my version of mojo potatoes (went to Shakeys in Brea last night with the kids and one of their friends, hadn't been to Shakeys in about 35-40 years was my guess since I lived in the South Bay. Kids liked the potatoes so I said I'll try my own) and steamed veggies for dinner tonight. Sundays are usually the big dinner night of the week since we don't have stuff going on, want to get all that done so I can watch the game.
Kings held an optional skate today and about half the team showed up, you'd think after that debacle on Friday it would have been a mandatory skate. Kuemper the expected starter, no expected line changes although I could see Glass Boy checking in for Lewis. Lewis sucks these days but I don't know who would be better on L4 of the two. Thomas, Burroughs and Moverare available as usual to check in.
Something disturbed me from Jill post G3, he stated he was happy with how the Kihgs played. Huh? The Oilers decimated the Kings in the third where they sat back and played prevent defense basically and then on Kane's goal there's literally five Kings in the crease yet not a damn one put the body on Kane and let him do his thing. We know what happened next so I don't know how Jill can be happy with a performance like that.
Another thing is Kuemper has been showing cracks, it's a different ball game playing RS vs PO hockey. His PO numbers are 4.04/.859 which is a far cry from the 2.02/.921 during the season. He needs to be sharper although that is a task with the firepower the Oilers have.
The Oilers expected to roll out Pickard again, don't blame them. Skinner has been terrible so until something happens for the worse I expect Pickard to go the rest of the way. Gives them the best chance to win and he made some big saves in G3 that Skinner wasn't able to earlier. Nothing new on their roster lineup although they did call up 7 black aces.
The Kings absolutely have to come out of the gate with a winning mentality and show it on the ice, they played scared Friday. This is a pivotal game, if they come back to LA 2-2 I don't think they win the series. Have to get a split here. Good opportunity to really put the screws to Edmonton.
Prediction: Kings learned their lesson in G3 and it's a repeat of G2 but not the score. A methodical 4-2 win with goals by Kopitar, Kempe, Laferriere gets off the schneid and TOTM with an EN goal. McJesus and Hyman with the Edmo goals with Draisaitl being a key on both. Come home up 3-1 and prep to close them out on Tuesday.
Let's Go Kings!
