Game Thread: G3 WCQF Kings vs Oilers 4/26/24

Game day, I got two flag football games* starting at 4pm and the again at 7pm, I won't catch the game until most likely midway through the second. Hoping it's sooner.

Same line up expected as Wednesday, Jill rolling with 12/6. It was a pretty good mind game with Knoblauch, since Jill went right to the 11/7 as Grundstrom only got one shift for :24 in the first and then never saw the ice again. Edmonton planned for 4 lines but got the 11/7 instead. Small head game but something McLellan wouldn't have done, I approve. Grundstrom is being a good soldier and doing what is asked of him. Edmonton also expected to roll out their same lines at G2.

Talbot expected to start again, I would have liked to see Rittich. Both goalies have terrible numbers already this series ans have given up some that I think they'd like back. Talbot made some timely saves though like the one on Draisaitl but IMO he has been somewhat shaky. Maybe it's tye opponent but that also is a slippery slope to watch the wheels fall off. Sure hope not.

Good win in G2, it was that statement win I mentioned in the G2 thread. Ugly but a win is a win. Pressure is on Oilers now, hope the first home game jitters don't creep in too much.

* first season for both boys trying this out. - and last. They aren't fans. I think it's cool it's picking up popularity, and Ms Puck II is going to play for her HS (women's football in HS, not even a thought 31 years ago when I graduated but pretty cool) but wow is it boring as shit. They're sticking to tackle after this season.

Hoping for good energy and good game. Maybe try to improve that 50% PK rate, but here we are Year 3, and that might be high hopes.

Would LOVE if Kings decided to just have one of those games where they blow the doors off Skinner. Actually put that fear into the Oilers. I watched a bunch of Oilers podcasts that came up after the game (Recommended by Youtube), and they were still mostly unbothered following Game 2. Pretty much still feel Kings got lucky and this one could still be over in 5. Not saying that's not possible, but Kings coming home, it would be nice to take this one. Imagine securing home ice and not having to go win in Edmonton again? Too optimistic probably.

Anyway, I'm headed to the game, so catch you guys later. Bringing two buddies. One has never been to hockey game in any capacity, and the other first playoff game. Hoping new guy luck.

Hard to look past G1. Until they send an Edm Oil team golfing Kings will be the underdog.

I agree, would be awesome to see that Kings team that can swarm and bury Skinner. I originally thought Oil in 5, then switched to Oil in sweep after g1....now i dont know what to think, much like some of the season. Kings won g2, but i really dont think they were all that good, which is encouraging as they could maybe break out that "good" team we saw at times this season

With you guys and I have the Oilers in 6 unfortunately, but tonight would be a great time to hang up a touchdown on those clowns and get in their heads.

Have fun at the game, hope new guy enjoys it. Nothing like a playoff game atmosphere, he's going to be disappointed going to a Wednesday game in November now haha.
