Game Thread: G29 17-8-3 Kings @ NJ Devils 12/12/24

Game day again, 4pm start on FDS. Finally a night without stuff going on so I should be able to watch it live although I am still working as I type.Kids are money pits, a wise man told me once at age 23 don't ever get married, don't ever have kids. Dodged one bullet, took 4 more on the other one.

Not much to report except NJ is a good team. they are tied with LA with 17 regulation wins. They're 18-10-3 and have lost the last two but have won 11 of the last 15. IN all, won't be an easy game. Our good buddy MacDermid is with them and available in case the Devils want to put him in the lineup.

Not expecting any lineup changes so look for the 11/7 again, the Kings did not have a skate this morning. Since no skate there is no determined starter in net but my guess is it's Rittich since Kuemper has started the last two. With the 11/7 both Englund and Thomas are available to check n if Jill goes 12/6. NJ is fast and skilled, have to play tight and check hard.

Interesting thing is Jesper Bratt and Kempe were both selected to represent Sweden in the 4 Nations Tournament coming up and Kempe said next to Nylander. Bratt is the guy he is looking most forward to playing with. I'll keep an eye on both tonight just to see their styles of play and how they're different.

Prediction: Devils 4-2, Kings goals by Kempe, Kopitar, Buster gets a bone and TOTM with his fourth EN goal.

Buster being cute again, gains the line and stops up, gets checked and put on the ice by the much smaller Conner, Devils get the puck and exit the zone.

Fox says he needed to go wide and stop looking for a better play, use your speed and get a scoring chance or draw a penalty. It's the nuances like that this dullard doesn't seem.to understand, reminds me of Daniel Jones as Giants QB and taking way too long to go through his progressions either resulting in late throws, sacks or turnovers. Just not processing fast enough.

So glad Fox called him out, finally. Clearly everyone is getting frustrated with Buster.

End of first, 0-0. Kings playing solid defensively, Rittich making some big saves but outshot 9-2. Reminded me of the Dallas game where they were outplayed but at least NJ didn't score any goals like the two Dallas did. NJ funneling pucks to high danger areas.

Kings got better as the period went along but will need to turn it up a bit in the second. They didn't really have any sustained pressure but also hit two posts.

Need to simplify the game and start bombing shots on net. Markstrom doesn't look bad but he also hasn't been tested.

Can't tell for sure but I think Turcotte missed the net altogether. Been that type of game, NJ speed is a lot to handle and the Kings can't seem to get anything going.

Did it at both ends of the ice breaking up that two on one, joins the attack and then a nice shot.

Fortunate to be up 1-0 but take it as they come.

There is literally no excuse in the closet anyone can use anymore for this guy. He simply flat out isn't a good NHL player. Sure, light up the OHL where you're 17" taller than kids your age, or even before. You're playing against men now and you simply are not up to it.

Good lord did LA fuck up this pick and send them back even more years than Bowlby already did.

Thats why your t5 picks you take the players that look NHL ready, your later picks you spend time developing. Even if LA and Kings fans didnt want Stuztle (who might break 90 points yet again on a crap team) imagine the trade bait he would be. I would love to see him with Kopi/Kempe or Fiala....I really doubt the Kings PP would be anywhere as pathetic as its been, would they lose something on the PK? Maybe but Stutzle does have 4 SHG so there would be that.
