The kid did OK..... 4-2/3 innings without giving up a run. It's a shame that Hurdle didn't let him stay in and try to get that last out, for a shot at his first major league win. Guess he wanted a righty-right matchup with 2 runners in scoring position.
It's kind of interesting that Thompson had indicated before the game that he was stretched out to 70-75 pitches..... and Hurdle was quoted as saying more like 50. Thompson wound up throwing 68 pitches.
I wonder whether they'll send him back to Indy or give him another shot.
