So far this year the Cardinals have beat our ass. As a team that's what they are supposed to do. The Reds if they want to contend this year have to turn this around and start playing like winners not pretenders. If the Reds want to win they need to play better, that's all.
To beat the Cardinals, you have to do what they do: Work the counts, hit singles, and move the runners. You are getting beat by a more fundamentally sound ball club right now. Most likely the best in baseball, in fact. However, how you play in June does not necessarily define how you play in September. We all talk about the Cardinal pitching but it is the hitting that has propelled this club. They have people that know how to swing the bat. Says volumes about the Reds coaching staff doesn't hit? The players on this Cardinal team are obviously coached well because they all give great at bats from the top to bottom in the batting lineup. Meanwhile, I see the same inconsistencies from the Reds hitters night in and night out. Is anybody learning anything? Is anybody teaching anything? The answer is no to both questions for Reds. These Reds should be more consistent as a group than they are. I blame Coaching on that because the talent is there.
