Damn you LAD. I'm glad we've been winning but we screwed this thing up where we dropped from 1st pick to 4th in 2 weeks.

OK....I'll play.

If I'm another GM, I know the position you're in and you can't even bluff me. I'll give ya a good AAA player and a comer at A ball, and you eat $35 mil. Whatta ya say?

Jon.....you can't even pretend buddy.....I got ya by the balls.

But we aren't in this position IMO. Choo will be more than fine.

Alright already.....see ya tomorrow.

Been swell.

If we only had to eat a total of $35 million I would take it. Deal. It saves me having to have an over the hill OF for the last 4 years of his contract.

By the way, if you are a GM for a team that is desperate for an outfielder next break in order to compete then we are both desperate.

I highly doubt we sell low on Choo. I think JD plans on contending next year, and Choo is an important piece.

I highly doubt we sell low on Choo. That's not good business. I also think JD plans contending next year, and Choo is an important piece.

They can wait until next July and trade him. Or even 13 months from now.

I know and I don't think that's best, but I'm assuming we pick up a DH. Only time will tell. I love the winter meetings and I'm really looking forward to them this year.

If we are going to assume picking up guys then I would assume we pick up a 1B and DH Prince and play Rua in RF. Either that or pick up a RF and play Rua at 1B. Either way I don't depend on Prince at 1B any longer.

Yes, I think JD does plan on contending next year. By July I think he will realize differently though.

Saw something yesterday about how Maddox wanted to be considered for the Manager's job here in Texas. (IE...at least get an interview)... but if Bogar gets the nod, he said he'd be more than willing to come back as the pitching coach.

I think everyone involved in these conversations are saying all the right things at the moment, to at least not make waves in case they really have opportunities. Based on credentials and actual managerial track records, I think Bogar wins the job. I think Maddux, although a great candidate, just doesn't have the proven track record as the actual manger of a team to make him a first choice. Hope he is still the pitching coach for 2015

I had Rua at 1B and Prince at DH.

Until Prince proves healthy enough to play the field, I am almost certain he is the DH next season at least going in. I think Rua will be in LF and Choo in RF and JD will give Moreland one more shot at the 1B gig, if he can get on the field.

Why wouldn't he? There is plenty enough talent still in this organization to compete. The Angels pitching has been decimated by injuries late this year. Their offense is good but their BP is still suspect. The A's went all-in and their offense has taken a hit because of it. With misses and FA who knows what other teams look like next year. The Rangers still have legitimate shot at winning the division with just a couple acquisitions.

That said the Rangers need to move him at the first opportunity that doesn't have them eating a ton of that salary. Which will be highly unlikely obviously.

I just don't see that happening. I think he'll bounce back next year when healthy. I'm definitely not ready to dump Choo's contract, and I don't think JD is either.

This year is clearly the anomaly. Choo is an important part of our lineup going forward. Dumping him would be short sighted.

1h Sources confirm: #Pirates bench coach Jeff Banister has already done two interviews with #Astros for manager job.

You get the feelin' Maddux is the odd one out here on these managerial jobs. Except here.

I posted this the other day too. It sounds like Maddux will be here next year.

Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux is hopeful that he will receive an interview for the team’s managerial vacancy, and GM Jon Daniels expects to sit down with him at season’s end, writes MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan. Even if Maddux isn’t hired (or even interviewed), he’s expected to return to the club as a pitching cocah in 2015, a club official tells Sullivan, and he’s “certain” to return if interim manager Tim Bogar gets the job.

Some are forgetting how well he was playing until the ankle injury.

JD is on the same page with ya too.

I hope we have him in RF though instead of LF.

So you don't think at some point in the next 6 years that we could do better than Choo either with a prospect or with a free agency acquisition. I think that point will come within the next 27 months.
