I miss the free spending first minute of Free Agency days. Not the over paying on over the hill player days but the excitement of it all. This waiting around stuff sucks.

If we are bringing Merriweather back, it better be as a coach. As for sticking with our #5 pick overall (which we shouldn't do), our best bets are NT (Danny Shelton) or OLB (Dante Fowler / Shane Ray). Everyone else is not worth taking at #5 overall (e.g., Landon Collins, Brandon Scherff) or doesn't fit a pressing need (e.g., Amari Collins / Kevin White and/or errrrr, ummm Marcus Mariota).

WR is a need we have no Big WR on our team and White with his size, speed and great hands would be a great pick at 5 if they believe he is BPA

However one may characterize our need at WR, I think we'll all agree that it's not a pressing one. NT/DT and OLB are needs that are on a much higher order, along with o-line.

What is wrong with Waynes at #5? Cant count on Hall. Amerson sucks and will be a FA soon. We just have Breeland who is very young.

Not having a big WR is a pressing need. Do you realize how poor we have been in the red zone? It has cost us games. Not saying the need is greater than OL, DL, or secondary, but it's as great as our need for another OLB. The reality is that if we stay at 5, the BPA may very well be a WR and we should take him, especially if it's White. He has the potential to be a game changer.

IMO, I'd rather get a 6'5" one trick pony red zone speedster in a later round. Our line is still shaky and another WR that high would not make an impact.

A big WR, under our circumstances, is more of a plus than a need, much less a pressing need. Yes, we do need a red zone presence. But the lack of scoring can be attributed more directly to a piss-poor line. Indeed, if you take a look at our skill position players, we've actually got a nice young core to rely on in the next few years. The problem has been an o-line that's not given the QB time to throw (though the QBs have some of the blame as well) and Alf room to run. If you give us a good o-line, you'll see a marked improvement on offense.

It all depends on who we get in FA then we still take BPA during draft. Yes WR is less of a need then O-Line, D-Line scratch that all Defense positions but to improve in the long run you take the best player available when you draft. I still think if Mariotta drops to us we take him then trade him to the highest bidder.

I hear what you are saying. However - wouldn't you rather wait a few days for some (likely unexciting) free agent news rather than years and years (& years) of waiting for this team to make the playoffs (& when they do so make it more than one year in a row). Patience is a virtue.

If Mariota drops to us, there has got to be a trade partner. This is the ideal scenario. We move back, pick up additional high picks and fill multiple holes with quality players.
