Is it safe to say we are drafting an edge rusher based on the fact that we have done nothing but chase RT's, DT's, and safeties so far?

Yeah good point. What it says is they are looking to draft the best player and are looking at FA to fill needs, that's what the grown ups in this league do.

What about Stephen Paea? According to the Post they are interested and the Bears are not, which is a huge plus.

I agree. I'm not sure you can draw conclusions on who we will target in the draft based on who we might be interested in FA. Mcloughan is going to take the BPA at where ever we pick. We could pick up an OLB in FA and still draft one at 5. The same could hold true with RT (but probably only if we trade back). The reality is we need athletes. Playmakers. This is what this team has lacked for 10 years. I don't care who is coaching, if your players get beat off the line of scrimmage, the scheme or play calling makes no difference. So Scot's job is to begin to fill the cupboard with talent. Players that can be developed into consistent performers that win more than their fair share of plays against their opponents. This problem is large and will not be solved this offseason. The best we can hope for is improvement. Maybe 6-8 wins this year. Then restock again next year with more young playmakers. We need patience for this plan to work.......something that Danny has always shown he has
