I would prefer fowler from FLA.

I would prefer we didnt have to worry about us possibly taking another pass rusher when we gave up more sacks than all but one team in the league last year... But hey.. I wont be shocked when we grab a pass rusher and trot out another O-line that every one will complain about by week six. :)

Wow you gave us till week 6. Give me the first 6 minutes of the 1st game. It appears the o-line won't be addressed in free agency or our 1st round pick so it appears who ever is lining up behind center better have their track shoes on.

Shark, dude, you crack me up. All during the season as folks were bitching about the OL, you were adamant that the problem didn't lie with the OL, but with the QB. You espoused the position that everyone that begged for new RT were wrong, but you begrudgingly said you hoped we did replace the RT if for no other reason than to prove that RG3 was the issue. Well, you've done a 180, which is ok, I've done it myself a time or two. Now you are of the belief that no QB can survive behind this OL and we must use our first (and mabe second) pick on OL. You point to Dallas as the example that the only way to build a line is to draft them high.

Well, that could work. Or it could bust. It all depends on the quality of the talent evaluator. But the fact is we need a bunch of quality players at almost every position. Your hope that we re sign rak so we don't need to find another rusher. I got news for you. Rak is done. Even before he got hurt, he was not effective. So even if we re sign rak, we could very well still draft an OLB. Because you can never have enough talent putting pressure on the opposing QB. You want to make our secondary better? The quickest way is to make the QB Rush his throws.

So I maintain my position I have had all along. Draft the best players you can, regardless of position. You do that regularly, and in a year or two, you have a team full of young studs flying all over the field and just plan outplaying the opponents. Apparently McLaughlin is of the same mind.

j_y..... I still think QB play was alot to blame. But I have come to realize that if the QB cant get rid of the ball quickly, we need to give him more time. That equates to a better O-line. No matter who is actually under center. And Im not just looking at this year, but going forward. my thought is, if we dont make one of these guys worth keeping around, we are still in the same spot.... looking for a serviceable QB.

And no I dont think the only way to build a line is to draft them high... but it is the quickest way. Dallas went from the worst line in the NFL to one of if not the best in a matter of three draft picks.

the quickest way to keep us OUT of the Cardale Jones lottery is to fix the line. And even if we do end up in the Jones lottery, at least we wont be feeding him to the wolves.

Fair enough. I'll just leave you with these 2 points. First, there are more PB OL drafted in round 3 or lower than drafted in rds 1 and 2. Teams regularly find quality OL in later rounds. Second, it all depends on the talent evaluator. A bad one can miss just as easily with high picks as low picks. A good one can find talent in low rounds, just like he can in high rounds. If ours is as good as many believe, we need to give him some love and believe that he knows we need to upgrade the line and has a plan to do that, wether in rd 1, 7 or UDFA.

No one is ruling Scherff at #5. I would love to have him help our line. It all depends where he is ranked on our GM's big board. I don't think he ever has taken a OT in the first round and heard he believes he can find them in later rounds. That would be great if he can find us defense help in 1st and shore up our o-line in rounds 4-7.

He is in town. Supposed to go to dinner tonight I believe. Chris Baker is leading the Potroast2DC campaign. Just posted a pic of him and PR on his instagram. Only problem I see is he turned down a offer of 5 mill from the Raiders. Dont see us offering much more. We shall see.

Well we have about $19 million and some change in cap space at the moment. So if the deal is done right we could offer up to an average of $9 million a year without it hurting too badly. This assumes that we are going to extend Trent and Kerrigan, cut Chester and MAYBE make a couple of other moves. If we do the deals right, there is another $20 million in cap space sitting around Redskins park if we need it, and we would not be hurting our selves for the next three years in the bargain.

The $9 MIllion number was more of a buck stop number than any thing. I would love it if we got him for say $6-7.5 a year. BUt remember that the SUH deal is going to skew the hell out of numbers for DT/NT players.

Also have to look at what Williams got as a barometer.
