Wait Sty, we have signed or resigned some guys from the previous years losing record team, does that not count? Lol...
To me this is just another attempt at selling mediocrity with a hint of hope to the masses. What the hell right? They've bought it for 21 years, why not 22?

This is what doesn't make sense to me either. One would think Rivera would know that results are needed in year 3 and look for upgrades at almost any position. Wentz alone cannot save this team. I would have thought Rivera would have at least upgraded a position or two, but he hasn't. Very strange.

I hadn't thought about it until now, but perhaps he wants out!

He just isn't that good of a coach I didn't like the hire and he is showing why he was fired from Carolina
He only has 3 winnings seasons out of 11 as a head coach. My guess is that he took the job because we offered him full control of the team. His front office approach has been a disaster.

I agree and said at the time that I didn't agree with the hire. That said, I had to concede to some of our fellow posters who pointed out how desperate this organization was to hire anyone. They told me that we were lucky to get him and unfortunately I had nothing to offer in rebuttal. I still don't! !

I definitely don't agree with this entire Carolina North movement. Since he has done this and was intimately involved in the name change, why not go for the whole thing and rename this team The Felidae!! :D

I have been wondering what our play in this is. Apparently, we have our MLB of the future already on the roster in Cole Holcomb. Of course they didn't figure that out last year during the numerous games with Davis struggling. Who would have thought...the answer was in front of our face!

Suppose they are right...Holcomb slides to MLB next year. They are still forgetting that we need another OLB to take his spot. One would think they would have signed a free agent to cover that. We literally have the worst LB corps. in the NFL. I guess they are waiting on the draft to solve that problem....along with the other holes we have.

I mean, what is the point of NFL free agency if the gameplan is to simply cut players and resign our own free agents. I would have thought free agency could be utilized to improve the team. Not continue to parade of mediocrity we have seen over the past few seasons. I cannot remember a front office this dense before. This is Rivera's show and he brought in these people. I can't wait till we get rid of him.

The commies don’t have 5yrs 65 mil to give to him
There are ways dad. Hell, a team was 50+M over the cap starting FA and managed to sign the players they feel fit within their team structure. We have signed a few guys for depth but nothing else really. I'm not into throwing a bunch of money at older washed up players looking for a pay day however, players that fit and can still make a difference and add value to the team would be nice.
I see another losing season and another losing season after with this staff in place as its currently structured and operating.

Sounds like Mathieu to be a Steeler. Looks like they are all in and trying to be competitive. What are we doing? Answer = Nothing!

I think Rivera and staff literally have no clue what they are doing. I have said that for quite some time now. We will have to wait until 6/1 or look to the draft to improve the team. I have no faith in this front office at all. They had plenty of cap room to improve the team. They chose to resign average players and blow it all on Wentz.

They should have signed Mariotta, kept the draft picks, and saved the cap. I want Rivera to have to explain himself when his Wentz experiment doesn't work.

Worse for Rivera is the fact that he hired his GM and staff. I can't fault him for wanting to do that because he like most was looking at Washington from the outside in. His biggest issue, I believe was imagining himself to be something that he has zero experience in doing.
Washington now has this odd power structure, where Rivera supposedly relies upon Mayhew/Hurney for input towards team building but HE is their boss!! Both of these guys have some front office experience, but must yield to their boss who has zero similar experience! How on earth does this work??
