2008 NFL Draft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't usually like to go the "woulda shoulda" route. However - take a look at the 2nd round of that draft - yikes! As you said "awful draft". It is even worse when you look at some of the other players that could have been drafted instead. That includes Jordy Nelson, Desean Jackson, Matt Forte & Ray Rice. :L

Thanks Vinny!

"Nope. I don't care about Fred Davis, the man. He's pure garbage in my book."

You've followed this with: "Screw that. I hope your career is over Davis but I do hope you get your life straightened out. I don't want to see you making millions or even hundreds of thousands playing a game because you had your chance and you blew it. Don't the door hit you in the ass on your way out..........." So you do care about Fred Davis the man....right?

A Related to your Weed question...........Anything that is done repetitively can become an addiction, food, exercise, smoking, drinking etc. etc. Neither you nor I are gonna be able to stop the legalization of 420. The economic benefits to states and municipalities just like alcohol will prove too great for them to resist.

so far the unintended consequences arent very good when it comes to DUI's and such . i think we should resist that as much as possible

We have no disagreement on that point........to resist it as much as possible means, just as prohibition attempted to do, to ignore the criminalization associated with it as is currently the case and those who also benefit from it. This is the reason (my perspective) why it has not been legalized across the country. Too many lawyers, judges, police, politicians, and corrective institutions directly benefit from the status quo. It is going to be interesting to watch Colorado and Washington State settle into normalcy now that it is legal in these states. The driving force will be economics statewide vs. systemic beneficiaries.

lol, I know. We were completely bereft of WRs at that point. Moss and that was about it. Are those 2 receivers even still in the league, I wonder? I can't be bothered to check.

Nor in what is now formerly mine.........however that is besides the point. This is a huge industry and profitable albeit a largely underground one as we speak.

Kind of. Like I said - I don't like to play the "woulda, shoulda" game. However - this is bad judgement to the extreme. Every team in the NFL could not say that they botched THREE second round picks in a draft that had several all-pro type players! You pretty much are saying the same thing.

Also - every team in the NFL cannot say that they only had a handful of remaining players from 5-6 + years of drafting. This is an area where I do give Shanahan some props in that he at least had some productive drafts & gave us hope that this tool should be effective for the Skins moving forward. Cerrato should have been blacklisted and never, ever be allowed to come anywhere near an NFL complex since he is a complete moron!

I agree about the scouting part (and this is also where Shanahan fell short since he had final say-so on personnel decisions even on the defensive side where he is far from an expert).

However - in terms of the BPA - even if they were fixated on getting a WR they blew it big time since there were two pro-bowl type WRs they decided not to draft in that round.

i think we were fixated on big tall wr and we took unneeded chances with a "upside guy " and a health risk guy and we also blew the character issue with davis

The key being that "we" consisted of Snyder and Cerrato. Freaking Megatron could have been available at that spot & they probably would have some bright idea of taking someone else.

Moving forward - I just hope that Snyder stays out of personnel decisions for the most part (realizing he will not completely). I don't give a crap if he wines and dines people at his mansion or wherever - just don't want him making any of these decisions or employing a buffoon like Cerrato (no actual proof over last several years that he has made any of these decisions).
